Chapter 15

Madison's POV

I walked into the Secretary's office with the elderly lady whose name I just learned was Becky. The office was right in front of Mr Adrian's office.

"This is where you will be working from today," Becky handed me my files, I smiled and took it from her hand politely.

"Okay thanks, I think I should get to work now," I dropped the files and my bag on the table.

"These are the things you should know about CEO Adrian, Director Leon, and Mr Xavier," Becky handed me an envelope.

"I understand Mr Adrian but why the others?" I asked curiously.

"Mr. Adrian is the owner of Adrian's empire, Mr. Leon is his brother, the second in command, you have to please him to get through to Mr Adrian," Becky paused as if thinking of what to say.

"Then how about Mr Xavier?" I hurriedly asked before she could continue what she was saying.

"Xavier is Mr. Adrian's friend and one of the biggest shareholders in Adrian's empire, you have to respect Mr. Xavier because if anything happens it can cause a big loss to Adrian's empire," Becky was about to walk out when I stopped her.

"Mr Xavier, is he perhaps a doctor?" I wanted to be sure she was talking about my boyfriend Xavier or another Xavier.

"Yes, Mr Xavier is a doctor," Becky nodded her head and left the secretary's office.

I sat on my chair behind the desk, I opened the envelope Becky had given me which contained a list of what to do and what not to do.

I went through the list and it was a bit ridiculous to me. The list for Mr. Adrian said I should be at work by 6 a.m. and standing in the corridor with a morning coffee in my hands and he was allergic to apples.

I remember even my own child is allergic to apples, "Apples? Why the fuck is everyone allergic to Apple these days?" I rolled my eyes and continued reading the list.

I was to follow him everywhere, including on business trips. I didn't understand why he needed a married woman to do all this.

Mr. Leon's list was just weird, he needs a servant, not a worker and he has his own secretary, he seems like the annoying yet nice one or should I get Xavier to introduce Violet to him?

There was nothing about Xavier on the list other than respect Mr. Xavier as if your life depended on it, anyway, that won't be necessary because Xavier is my man.

I dropped the list neatly inside the drawer of the table, and I arranged the table to my taste. I sat down waiting for Mr Adrian to arrive at work.

"Madison, Madison, wake up," I opened my eyes to see Becky calling me, I hadn't realized when I slept off.

"Yes," I yawned and stretched my hands.

"Hurry up, Mr. Adrian just arrived, get him morning coffee and go downstairs to welcome him," Becky said and dashed off in a hurry.

I looked at my phone and it was clearly afternoon, Morning coffee in the afternoon? And he is just arriving at work now?

I stood up lazily from the chair, entered the staff kitchen still feeling sleepy, and made instant coffee, I headed downstairs.

Mr Adrian entered the company building, so many men in suits including elderly men went to greet him, and they bowed their heads slightly. I ran up to him and greeted him politely.

"Good afternoon sir, Your coffee," I bowed my head and smiled, handing him the coffee.

Adrian smiled and took the coffee from my hands, "thanks," he took a sip from the coffee and his expression began to turn sour.

My smile began to fade as I watched Adrian's face turn sour, he spat the coffee in his mouth back into the cup and threw the cup of coffee on the floor.

"What the actual fuck is this!" Adrian yelled pointing at the poured coffee lying on the floor, his voice bringing the attention of everyone around us.

I raised my head slightly, "Coffee?" I asked, sounding so unsure of what I had said.

"Wha..What type of coffee?" Adrian asked, trying his best to be calm.

I moved back a bit from him, "In.. instant coffee."

"Instant what?" Adrian asked again as if he didn't hear me the first time.

"Coffee," Leon said boldly from behind me.

"Who the fuck hired this woman!" Adrian yelled as he balled his hand into a fist.

Leon walked to Adrian and placed his hands on Adrian's shoulder, "You," Leon tried to hide his laughter by biting the inside of his mouth.

"Me? When?" Adrian pointed at himself.

"Yes, you, today," Leon burst into laughter.

"Who does she work for?" Adrian asked, staring blankly at Leon.

"She works for you as your secretary," Leon explained.

Adrian blinked his eyes, "She works for Me?" Leon nodded his head.

"Mrs Becky!" Adrian yelled for Mrs Becky and she ran to him, "Train her well and teach her how to make coffee from the scratch not some instant nonsense," Adrian said order Mrs Becky.

"Yes sir, I will be sure to teach her well," Mrs Becky answered politely.

"Don't forget to give me the feedback the moment she makes a better one," Adrian instructed and walked away from the scene to his office.

What does he mean to make it from the scratch? How dare he? Should I just talk to Adrian or something?

"Good luck, two weeks and you will be out," Leon scoffed and was walking away when he stopped.

"And yes, get ready as Adrian's secretary you have a business trip in Hong Kong that you both will be attending soon," Leon clicked his finger and left the corridor.

I needed time to process the Business trip. I haven't even spent two days working here and on a business trip with a man as annoying as Adrian.

I think I would decline the business trip, I am a mother and I wouldn't want to leave my child all alone or should I go for the business trip and teach this man a lesson for humiliating me like this in front of everyone. I think I should talk to Xavier and Violet first before I go for this trip.

"Let's go, teaching begins now," Mrs Becky walked away and I Force a smile on my face ignoring the humiliation I had just face from Mr Adrian and followed behind her quietly.

I have both a bad and good feeling for this trip.
