A day had passed , and Huey was in their joint bathroom with his little brother while he told him the events that happened yesterday. Huey wanted to spit the toothpaste out when he heard Riley was behind the shooting."So, you're telling me." Huey started as he spat his toothpaste into the sink. "You let a white girl hold your gun and she accidentally shot it? And that's completely ignoring the fact you packed a pistol to a white school."
Riley tilted his head in disbelief. "Damn , Huey, I thought you'd be the only one to unnastand why I carry a pistol in a WHITE school." Riley crossed his arms. Huey shook his head. "Whatever you say bruh."
They both got dressed for school, ate, and was out the door before their granddad even got up. They continued down the road where Caesar eventually joined them. They all continued down the road towards the bus stop.
It only took a couple seconds before they could hear the bus cruising down the road, with the pudgy , one eyed black man seen in the window. Once the bus stopped in front of them, they walked to the back and took their seats. It was noticeably more silent than yesterday.
It was more of a somber feeling this morning as they had realized they'd be repeating this cycle of going this outsider school until they graduate. Huey with this Anthony Barges dude would eventually come to ahead, Riley with his budding romance with Cindy, and Caesar who was relatively staying out of trouble for the time being.
After a couple minutes, the bus stopped in front of the school. They all piled on out of the bus and walked their separate ways , their classes were spread apart from each other strategically by the principal. As soon as Riley Freeman entered the school he was greeted by the Principal Barges. "Come to my office now young freeman."
Riley cocked an eyebrow and voiced his opinion of the matter very loudly. "Nigga fucks no, I ain't do shit."
Mr. Barges placed a hand on his whip and silently whispered. "Riley, do not make me contact the police for what you and I know you did yesterday."
Riley immediately shot to the incident yesterday and frowned. "Ight bruh." He said, and begin following Mr. barges to his office.
The principal locked the door and went around his desk and sat down. "I will cut to the chase, I have camera footage of you handing Mrs. Mcphearson a firearm." He cleared his throat and continued. "In any other case we'd have to immediately expel you and withdraw from our curriculum, but it involves a very generous family so you'll be cut your one and only chance."
"You'll also be placed on basketball team, that should sort your little hoodlum problem." He waved his hand. "You may leave." Riley got up and scooped up his bag, storming out of the office. That was a close call, if he hadn't been with that white girl he would've gotten in trouble.
Probably, even more reason to stay away from her.Riley slid out his phone, tapping through it before texting Cindy on Snapchat. 'ay I just went to the principals office fa yesterday have u been'
He put his phone back into his pocket and walked to his first period as the bell had already rung.
Meanwhile, Huey and Jazmine were conversing about what happened yesterday regarding the fight between him and Anthony Barges. "Why didn't you ask me on the way home yesterday?" Huey calmly whispered. Jazmine shrugged , "You look like you didn't want to be bothered about it at the time."
"And I look like I do now?"
Jazmine giggled. "Kinda."
"Look, he tried to tell me to stay away from Cindy long story short we fought."
Jazmine scoffed, seemingly not surprised. "Oh of course, that's what we always does. No one is allowed in of ten feet of Cindy. You might want to control your brother, they seem a little too close, already.""He ain't gone touch my brother."
Jazmine giggled again. "You may beat him in a fight but I saw that wrestlin-"
"Quiet down, Ms. Dubois." The teacher croaked from in front of the room.
Jazmine sunk down in her seat, embarrassed and turning red. A silent smirk came onto Huey's face.
Meanwhile, Riley and Cindy skipped out of their first classes, deciding to meet up in cafeteria hall. Riley saw Cindy walking up to him, obviously paranoid as she was looking around. "What is going on?" Cindy asked as she walked up to Riley. "I got called up to the office." He said. She crossed her arms.
"Well, no shit. You didn't think they had cameras in the parking lot? If you weren't with me you wouldn't be here, I don't even think you'd be free." She rolled her eyes. Riley sat there confused. "Wait so you knew."
Cindy face palmed shaking her head. "Yeah bruh, I knew. You're fine just don't do anything stupid like that again." She stepped closer to Riley, lowering her tone. "Look, I like you, and I know you've only been here a day but I had fun yesterday."
Riley stepped closer to her, a stupid grin on his face. "Shid, that was nun shawty." He slurred out. Their conversation was interrupted by loud stomp. They snapped their heads to the source of the sound. Anthony Barge, his face a swollen from the beatdown he received the day before. "I knew something was fishy. You're fucking this little ghetto rat." He stepped forward. Cindy backed away from Riley. "No, Antho-." He placed his hand up. "Nah, I don't wanna hear it right now." He pushed past her, looking Riley in the face. "You want some of this?" Anthony shouted in Riley's face.
Riley sized Anthony up, he was was way bigger than Riley. Riley calmly stepped back, and giggled. "Boy, I'll smoke yo ass. I dare you touch me." Riley sat there with his arms crossed waiting. "Be ready."
Anthony sat there shocked, he took a step back. He grabbed Cindy's arm scooping her up and rushing out of the cafeteria. "That's what the fuck I thought." Riley called out to Anthony. Riley calmly took the other exit out of the cafeteria, and made his way through the halls of Skyvalley. He texted Cairo.
'can u scoop me up from this lame ah schoo'
