The moment I saw her, a part of me walked out my body and wrapped itself around her. And there it still remains.

Summer. 1977. It was bound to be boring as fuck. For one, Regulus was on his own in a different country with his parents. For two, he had just become a death eater. And for three, the hotelier's daughter was insufferably insistent on being his friend. The summer he expected was one of pain, reading, staying indoors and completely avoiding his parents. And yet instead, it was one full of her throaty laughs, her soft brown hair, her hoarse voice reading to him, shared cigarettes tinted with her red lipstick, and the most painful to try to forget: her beautiful soft lips. Carved by a goddess just like the rest of her face.
Regulus hadn't anticipated for her to be so hard to get over. He knew as soon as he left Italy he would have to forget her. But he hadn't expected it to hurt this bad, as Evan Rosier talked non-stop in his ear, which although he had very much missed hearing for most of the summer, he couldn't help but think of his Inès. Her laugh echoed through his ears and his fingers ached to touch her curled locs around his finger. Just one more time, please!
He knew he was being pathetic. He had more important things to focus on: school, quidditch, being a motherfucking death eater.
The memory of her was the best he had. And of course, the polaroid he had of her half naked on his hotel bed that he now used as a bookmark. He had hidden it from Evan as soon as he opened his book on the train. This was his, his to keep to himself. Nothing could ruin the image of her for him. Even though he knew he would never see her again, a piece of his heart would always be back in that hotel, in Italy, in the palm of the steel-eyed girl.
Regulus was a star, he wished upon himself every night for his girl to come back to him. Though his mind was corrupt, confused. He was just a boy, a boy with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Sutured into a life he didn't want. Keeping people around apparently wasn't his forte, Sirius had left and his parents held no care for him. It was only a matter of time before Inès would forget about him, right?
Might as well save himself the pain first.
