Diamond's POV

I woke up with a jolt covered in sweat. I looked down at my arms and saw they were red and blistering. I winced as I tried to sit up and realized my back was covered in burns, and I knew I would have to clean it. I looked around the camp and realized that I was by myself. Well, not completely, Jaken was sitting by the fire quietly muttering under his breath. I stood up and made my way over to where he was sitting.

"Where did everyone go?" Jaken jumped in surprise before stuttering out that he had no idea where everyone else had gone. I shrugged and started towards the river. Jaken, scrambling to his feet, follows me to the river bank.

"What happened to you? You were just sleeping." Jaken started with the questions, but I shook my head, not wanting to answer any. Mainly because I didn't know what to say, nor how to explain what had happened to me. Instead, I decided to try and clean the wounds on my back.

I pulled my leather vest off and immediately felt a cool breeze on my back, prompting me to take a look at my vest. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. My poor vest was tattered and burned. It looked like I had pulled it out of a fire. It even smelled of smoke. Sighing, I tossed the vest to the ground. There was no way I could wear it now. I tried to come up with the best way to remove my shirt, but not having anything else to change into, I decided to wait until we came across a village before doing anything about my back. Instead, I started focusing on cleaning the burns on my arms and hands while Jaken patiently waited for me to finish. He turned away from me when I pulled my vest off, most likely to give me a little privacy.

"Hey Jaken, can you do me a favor and unbraid my hair?" At first, he looked like he wanted to say no, but instead rolled up his sleeves and pointed to a dry spot only a few feet away.

"Youre a lot taller than me so it would be best if you sit down over there," I nodded my head and sat where he instructed me to, pulling out the hair tie that kept my braid together. Once i was sitting down, Jaken came over and immediately started unbraiding my long, thick hair.

"Can I ask you something, my Lady?" I nodded. "Why did you refuse that Demon Takeo?"

"It's just as i told him. I've only known one home, " he paused, then spoke again.

"It seemed he had something he wanted to share with you." Jaken finished unbraiding my hair, and I watched it pool around me, settling like a morning fog. I turned to face him with furrowed brows.

"What are you hiding, Jaken?" he walked over to the fire with a sheepish look.

"I'm sorry, my Lady" I sighed as the realization that everyone knew more about my past than I did finally set in.

"What else can't you tell me?" Jaken opened his mouth to speak, but Rin came running towards us from the trees.

"Lady Diamond, you're awake! Are you alright? You were burning up earlier. " Rin came over and gave me a look over. She became alarmed upon noticing the fresh burns on my arms. "What happened to you?"

"It's nothing."

"It looks like it hurts. I'm glad I went to pick some herbs for your fever, but I didn't grab any for burns. " As Rin spoke, Gemini and Sesshomaru walked out from behind the trees. "Lord Sesshomaru, look at Lady Diamonds arms!" Gemini immediately rushed over, looking concerned.

"My Lady, let me heal you." Mimi grabbed both my hands and looked at me as if she was waiting for permission.

"Go ahead." She nodded, closed her eyes, and a soft yellow light engulfed her form. Her short hair began to float around her face, giving her a mystical appearance.

I could feel her power engulfing me. However, the burns on my arms were not healing. I could still feel the stinging of the burns on back as well. The light soon began to fade, and Mimi opened her eyes, looking at my arms in disbelief.

"I don't understand. Why didn't it work?"

"It's fine, Mimi, don't worry about it." Sesshomaru took a step towards Mimi, who continued to look at me in disbelief.

"It's time." Mimi looked up at him, her face immediately becoming crestfallen.

"Already? Can't we stay a little longer?" He looked at her with the same stoic expression as always. Gemi spoke up instead.

"We gave our word, sister." Mimi looked down in defeat as I looked between the three demons.

"What's going on?"

"We'll be parting ways. I've instructed Gemini to follow Rin and Jaken back to Kaede's village. " Jaken looked a mix of hurt and disappointed as Sesshomaru spoke.

"Why?" Sesshomaru ignored me, turning to face everyone else instead.

"It's time." Gemini nodded, bowed to me, and quickly ushered Jaken and Rin out of the clearing . All I could do was stand there in a stunned silence while Rin quietly waved goodbye as she left. Once they were out of sight, Sesshomaru once again faced me.

"Now what?"

"We find Takeo." He spoke as if it were common knowledge, like something I should've known.

" And why would we go looking for him? I said everything I needed to already"

"Did you know?" I gave him a confused look, but he just nodded towards the water. "Look." I turned to the river to see what he could possibly be talking about, and I was shocked by what I saw.

"Huh?!"
