Sesshomaru's POV
"What is this?" Diamond stared at her reflection in the water, surprised by what she saw. The gash that had covered one side of her face was gone without a trace of ever being there. She continued to stare with her mouth open.
"I don't understand." She looked at me in disbelief.
"You have questions that need to be answered." Upon hearing this, she pursed her lips, stood up, and pushed past me. Intrigued by her actions, a small smile formed on my lips, however, I quickly removed it from my face. I wouldn't allow her to affect me. Rin already had a hold on me. Although, this felt different.
"I won't argue with you. Besides, it's not like you've led me astray before, but if he tries anything." She fell silent, but the look on her face said it all. Her murderous intent was palpable, and if I had been a lesser demon, her look alone could've killed me. Yet, there was an odd beauty to her cold stare. Her sharp eyes seemed to look through me as if she were reading my thoughts. Her lips, pressed into a thin line, beckoned me forward, calling me to their allure. Tearing my eyes away from hers, I took in her confident stance. With the scar on her face gone, her bangs no longer covered her right eye. The crimson pupil was gone, replaced with the same silver hue as her left. I once again had to tear my eyes away from hers as she bore holes into them with her stare.
"He tries anything he dies." I turned away from her but not before catching a glimpse of the smile that formed on her face.
"Lead the way."
We left the clearing heading in the opposite direction of Rin and the others. Our walk was quiet for the most part; Diamond did try to initiate small talk from time to time, though I chose to ignore her as best as I could.
We had reached a dense portion of woods when she let out a huge sigh. By this point, we had been walking for most of the day following the weak scent left behind by Takeo. The sun was setting, casting orange and pink hues across the sky.
"You must get your amazing speaking skills from your father." Her words rang in my ears as I stopped to face her. I stared at her for a moment before turning away from her, ready to start walking again.
"My father is dead." I heard her gasp behind me, as though she had quickly sucked in air.
"I really put my foot in my mouth with that one," I looked at her puzzled. "It's a saying. Just means I messed up with what I said." I nodded, and we continued walking in silence for a few more minutes. "What was he like?"
I sighed. "I looked up to him once, then he fell in love with a human. He gave his life protecting her and her infant son."
"It must've been hard for you." I looked at her, searching her face for any sign of pity or mockery. Instead, I found understanding in her unwavering gaze,
"I couldn't understand him until I met Rin."
"Yet you still can't forgive him or your brother. You blame Inuyasha and his mother for your father going astray." I turned my head, refusing to acknowledge what she said. She stepped towards me, placing her hand on my chest. I looked into her silver eyes, and my breath was nearly caught in my throat. "Placing blame on others is easy; forgiveness is hard and requires maturity. It's hard, but...it can be freeing." I looked at her hand, then back to her eyes once more.
"Have you forgiven?" Her eyes turned cold as she brought her face closer to mine.
"I may have forgiven, but I'll never forget." We stood in silence for a moment before a voice came from above us.
"The two of you seem close." We looked up to see Takeo standing on a branch above us.
"You seem to enjoy popping up whenever you please." Diamond shot him a glare as she removed her hand from my chest.
