And so it was that a geologist learned what it was to be loved eternally and a god learned what it was to be loved with everything. Gav and Nina remained friends for all of the years they were blessed to share.
For his part, Gav remembered the value of time, working ceaselessly to repair the damage his absence had caused his people. He also didn't waste time in finally speaking that which he had danced around for centuries. It was breathlessly simple that after hundreds of years of gentle implications and agonized self-questioning, it took only one frank conversation on a warm afternoon to establish that he and Ed loved each other in a way that was more than friends, in a way that they both desperately wanted. Ed, having faced the possibility of a future without Gav, had also learned the importance of time. There would be no more wasted centuries.
So if one day you should find yourself out in the world, don't forget to love what you love. Your love may very well free someone from a prison, whether it be stone, time, or self-made.
Love with the urgency of a mortal and the eternity of an immortal.
Love with all you've got.
