Chapter 10: Entwined Fates
As the night deepened, Yn found herself ensconced in solitude, her thoughts a tumultuous whirlwind amidst the quiet of the palace. The soft footsteps of a palace guard broke the silence, his presence a stark reminder of the world beyond her gilded cage.
"Your Highness, it is unseemly to wander the halls at this hour," the guard whispered, his voice carrying a stern warning. "If the king learns of this, he would be upset knowing that you're not resting."
Yn's heart clenched at the mention of Jungkook, his concern for her well-being feeling more like chains than care. "I need no reminder of the king's wishes," she retorted, her frustration evident. "I am well aware of my... obligations."
The guard bowed deeply, his face a mask of concern. "Forgive me, Your Highness. I only wish for your safety and health."
Left alone once more, Yn retreated to her room, a sanctuary amidst the opulence of the palace. Moonlight danced across the intricate tapestries, casting shadows that seemed to whisper secrets of a bygone era. She sat before her mirror, her reflection a haunting echo of the songs that once captivated gods and mortals alike.
As the morning dawned, Yn awoke with a yawn, her movements while rubbing her eye like a cute baby yet tinged with a sense of unease. The water's embrace in her morning bath washed away the remnants of her dreams, leaving her refreshed yet pensive. Opening her closet, She chose a stunning red dress from the provided by Jungkook, from her luxurious wardrobe of luxurious dresses provided by Jungkook. She got dressed in a gown of crimson silk, its fabric hugging her form like a lover's caress.
A demon maid entered, her bow perfect and precise. "Your Highness, breakfast awaits. Would you prefer to eat in your room or grace the dining hall with your presence?
"I'll eat in the hall," Yn decided, her voice firm. "Perhaps the day will bring a change of pace." said as Yn hoped for a chance encounter with Taehyung.
The dining hall was a spectacle of underworld opulence, its grandeur shadowed by the dark allure of the realm. Yn's gaze swept over the feast before her, each dish a favorite, each bite a reminder of Jungkook's attentiveness to her tastes.
"King insists on your contentment, Your Highness," a maid whispered, her eyes downcast.
Yn merely hummed in response, her appetite waning with the weight of her thoughts. After the meal, she wandered the castle's endless corridors, her footsteps echoing in the silence. The door that caught her eye was unlike any other, adorned with diamonds yet devoid of the usual foreboding aura. She approached cautiously near the large door it fully was made up of pure gold just like how Jungkook room's door is like it was the exact same but a little more beautiful as Jungkook room's door was also scary but this door wasn't, yn notices a lock on it and got confused but ultimately decided to leave it be.
That night, as Yn lost herself in the pages of a book, a shadow flickered past her door. Curiosity drew her out into the darkness, her heart pounding against the silence. The balcony beckoned, its view a canvas of stars and moonlight. There, she allowed herself a moment of vulnerability, missing the warmth of her family and the freedom of her old life.
The moon hung high as Jungkook's arms enveloped Yn from behind, his presence a sudden warmth in the cool night air. Startled, Yn turned to face him, her voice tinged with surprise, "You've returned?"
Jungkook's eyes held a tender light, "I found myself missing my gorgeous wife more than I could bear," he confessed, his words sincere yet met with Yn's silent scoff.
He admired her in the red gown he had selected, "You look breathtaking, Yn," he complimented, tucking a stray lock of her hair behind her ear.
Yn, however, remained unmoved, her gaze steady and emotionless. It was then that Jungkook posed the question, "Did you miss me, my queen?"
Her response was swift, a mix of defiance and vulnerability, "Why should I miss a king who sees me as nothing more than a trophy?" Her challenge hung between them, a palpable tension.
Jungkook's expression softened, his touch gentle upon her cheek, "You are more than you know, Yn. More than beauty, more than song. You are the heart of this kingdom, and you are the one who has captivated me."
Their eyes locked, a storm of emotions swirling between them. Yn's heart raced, a tumultuous sea of feelings that both frightened and thrilled her. The night was still young, and the story of their love was yet to be written.
As they stood on the balcony, the silence around them was filled with the unspoken words and the beating of two hearts in close proximity.
"Yn," Jungkook continued, his voice a whisper, "I see the strength in your eyes, the courage in your heart—you are your own person, and you have made this kingdom richer by your presence."
Yn's breath caught at his words, a flicker of emotion crossing her features. "And what of my freedom, Jungkook? What of my desires and dreams?" she asked, her voice a mere whisper.
Yn's voice was firm, her resolve clear. "I do not wish to remain here, nor with you, Jungkook," she said. "I yearn to return to my family and live on Earth, beneath the waves."
Jungkook's tone held a tinge of annoyance, "This will never be, Yn. You must accept that the underworld is now your place, this castle your home, and I—your family."
"Why can't you accept my love?" he questioned, his frustration evident.
Yn's anger flared in response. "What love? You don't even understand its meaning. It's nothing but obsession!"
Jungkook's fury rose, his voice thunderous, "Call it love or obsession, it doesn't matter. Remember, you are mine, and no one came separate us"
His eyes, once a warm dark brown, now blazed red, instilling fear in YN's heart. As she looked up at him with wide, doe-like eyes, her fear reflected in her gaze, Jungkook's anger dissipated at the sight of her scared face.
The tension was suddenly broken by a voice, "Jungkook..." Both turned to see Taehyung standing there, his presence bringing a calm to the storm. Jungkook's eyes met Taehyung's, a silent exchange passing between them, while YN stood by, her confusion growing.
And with that, the chapter drew to a close, leaving their fates entwined in the balance of power and emotion.
