"Oh, wasn't that your wife who was caught walking around while still wearing her wedding dress?" Brent's girlfriend's voice was so loud that Beverley could hear it. Her tone was sarcastic and mocking. It was a little annoying, but Beverley wanted nothing to do with her. She just narrowed her eyes and walked away.
"Wait a minute!" Brent's girlfriend tries to stop Beverley. She walked over to her, holding Brent's hand. "Miss Holmes, why are you in such a hurry?"
Beverley took a deep breath. She stopped her footsteps without turning back. "Sorry, but I have other, more important business."
"Oh, dear Brent, look how your wife talks to me. She won't even look at me." Natalie complained spoiledly to Brent. The man kissed her briefly on the lips and then walked over to Beverley.
"Where are you going?"
"Unfortunately, it is a working day. So, I have to go to work," Beverley replied nonchalantly. She was preparing to continue her walk when suddenly Brent grabbed her by the wrist. "Let go of my hand!"
"Didn't I warn you last night?!" Brent glared at the woman before him. "Stay here!"
"I don't want to!" Beverley glared back at Brent before finally turning to look at Brent's girlfriend behind her. After taking a closer look at the woman, she finally figured out why she looked familiar. It turns out that Brent's girlfriend is Natalie Hale, an international model whose face often appears in magazines.
Of course, Beverley was shocked. Natalie's identity was much higher than hers. The woman shouldn't feel rivaled by her, or else she would meet a bad end. Beverley didn't want to have an enemy with that identity. She had had enough of being enemies with Brent.
A thin smile appeared on Beverley's lips. "I'm surprised to see Miss Hale here. But don't worry, I can close my eyes and go blind to the things that are going on. You two can still freely have fun without me making a big deal out of it."
Natalie laughed at those words. She rubbed Beverley's shoulder, then whispered in her ear sharply. "Even if you take issue with my relationship with Brent, what can you do? I just wanted to warn you never to even think of taking him from me. You have to know your place, Beverley. Or if not..."
"Or if not?"
Natalie smiled knowingly. "You will know the consequences."
Beverley frowned. She never wanted to become a stumbling block in someone else's love relationship. However, this was not her desire to marry Brent either. If they loved each other, why didn't Brent marry Natalie?
"Honey, next time, I don't want to see her," Natalie told Brent, her expression a sullen one. Then she kissed the man's lips hotly in Beverley's presence.
"I know it's a little annoying, but forget it for now. Don't you have a photo shoot scheduled today?" Brent took Natalie's hand and held her waist tenderly. He glanced coldly at Beverley before finally going downstairs with his girlfriend.
Beverley rolled her eyes in annoyance. It turns out that Natalie was quite annoying. She waited a few moments until she heard Natalie's car drive away from the house. Only then did she come downstairs because she didn't want to see Natalie anymore.
Downstairs, Brent quickly approached her. The man dragged her and pushed her against the wall. He clutched her chin. "Can you be a dutiful and obedient wife?"
"No." Beverley gritted her teeth.
"Never appear in front of Natalie again!" Brent gave a warning.
"Do you think I want to see her again?" Beverley glared. Then she pushed the man hard. "I have to go or I'll be late."
"If you have a career like Natalie, I won't stop you! But you-"
"Stop belittling my work, Mr. Oliver! Didn't you become this rich just because you inherited your father's fortune? How great are you? If you weren't a descendant of the Oliver family, do you think you would be who you are now?"
Brent became furious after hearing that. This was the first time he had heard someone belittle him in such a manner. He ground his teeth. "If you don't know anything about me, you better shut up, Beverley!"
"Well! I am quiet. Now let me go." Beverley looked up at Brent with a raised chin. Look bold and challenging. Her blazer suit only made her aura stronger and more dominating.
Brent gritted his teeth. He closed his eyes for a moment, then took a deep breath. "Give me the car keys!" he ordered coldly.
"Didn't you give that to me? Would an Oliver want to go back on his words?" Beverley's tone was scornful. She didn't want to be weak in front of Brent; she didn't want to be a wife that was easy to bully.
Brent tried to contain his anger. Don't let him use physical violence on Beverley; at least he doesn't want to hit her. He grabbed the car keys in her hand and walked out. "I'll take you."
"..."
Beverley was speechless. She stared at Brent's back which was moving farther and farther away in confusion. The man wants to drive her? What bad intentions does Brent have? Suspicion naturally rose in her heart.
"Hurry up! Have you changed your mind and don't want to go?" Brent shouted from outside, sounding impatient. Beverley finally caught up with him.
They were in the car quickly. Brent still looked messy wearing only a plain white shirt and short jeans. He drove the car at high speed. "Where is the cafe?"
Beverley narrowed her eyes at the man. "What do you want?"
Brent snorted. "What do you think? Do you expect me to forcibly close the cafe?"
"You must be cursed by a demon from hell!" growled Beverley. "Put me down now!"
Instead of stopping the car, Brent increased its speed until it exceeded the permitted limit. That scared Beverley a little. "Brent!"
"You make me mad, Beverley," Brent said so coldly. He looked to the side and saw the terrified look on Beverley's face. It made him feel satisfied. Wasn't that woman so bold before? Look, he's going to freak her out!
Once again, Brent increased the car's speed. That's a clear violation of traffic rules. However, he didn't care. He just wanted to make Beverley regret it. Who did she think she was to speak to him like that?
"Gosh! Brent, I still want to live!" Beverley screamed while holding onto the car seat.
"Do you think I want to die?"
"We... we can be caught!"
And right after that, a police car suddenly chased them. Beverley became increasingly uneasy. "Stop it, Brent! They're behind."
Brent glanced in the rearview mirror. He snorted before finally pulling over the car. Moments later, a police officer knocked on their car window. "Excuse me, sir. You are driving over the maximum speed limit. May we see your driver's license?"
Brent was silent for a moment. "Yes, of course. But I didn't bring it."
"What?!" Beverley immediately exclaimed in disbelief. How could Brent forget something so important?
"You think I care about something like that when we're fighting?" Brent wore an even expression.
"But you shouldn't..." Beverley stopped her sentence and let out an annoyed growl. She took out her driver's license and gave it to the police officer. "I am sorry, Officer, he forgot that, but I have it."
She lowered her head and then muttered to herself, "If that still holds."
The police officer looked at the driver's license for a moment before shaking his head. "Unfortunately, this cannot save you from sanctions and fines. Please follow us to the police station."
Beverley gave Brent a murderous look. She felt like she wanted to punch that guy right now. "This is all your fault, you know?!"
Brent shrugged his shoulders without guilt. In all his life, he had never been arrested just for driving a car at high speed. This was quite a pleasant experience for him.
He smirked. "Let's go take a look at the police station here."
"You ... damn! I want to go to work!" exclaimed Beverley angrily.
