I was sitting in the living room doing some office work to be completed before my Engagement with Sita, as Dadi has or should I say ordered me to take off from work for one week. Still, I convinced her to allow me to go to the office at least till Thursday for which she agreed reluctantly. I just have a meeting to attend at afternoon 2 PM. I was going through the files for the meeting when someone closed my eyes, I felt the hands and recognized the person. A smile bloomed on my face and I said with a calm voice, "Nani, I know this is you."
She hugged me around my neck laughed slightly and placed a kiss on my forehead.
"My little Ram is going to get married." She said with tears lined up in her eyes.
"Nani I am not little anymore." I groaned.
"You will always be our baby," my Badi Mami said while all other family members entered. All my cousins hugged me. After they pulled away I took the blessings of all the elders. This is my maternal side of the family.
THE MAHAJANS.
It consists of my grandparents, Ma's elder and younger brothers i.e., my uncles, their wives, and children. Even though we don't meet regularly like I do with Madhav and Madhan, I still share a special bond with each one of them. I love them just as much as Shanta, Madhav, and Madhav. Just like the Raghuvanshi Empire, the Mahajans are also a famous family of doctors. Every one of them are best in their respective fields. My Nanu and Nani Akhilendra and Dakshina Mahajan were the best Neurologist and pediatrician in their times. My Bade Mamu Vaishnav is a General Surgeon and his wife Badi Mami Ishwarya is a Obstetrician. My Chote Mamu Veerendra is a Physiotherapist and Choti Mami Dhruva is a Cardiologist. Vaishnav Mamu's children are Yukthi and Yugant. Yukthi is a Psychologist and Yugant is pursuing a Post-Graduate degree in Nephrology. Veerendra Mamu's children are Reyansh and Rishabh. Reyansh is also doing his post-graduate with Yugant but in a different field, Hematology. Rishabh is in his final year of MBBS. There is more about them, let's keep it for another day.
Hearing their voices my Ma, came from the kitchen running and hugged Nanu and Nani tightly and then hugged her brothers and sisters-in-law. My cousins also excitedly took her blessings and hugged her, well because she is their only Bua. Slowly others also filled the room, everyone greeted each other. After they all settled down we all gathered in the living room and exchanged talks. I was relieved that one brought up my Engagement matter, but I talked soon when Rishabh who is the most mischievous of us all decided to open his big mouth.
"So Ram Bhai, there must be something really special about Bhabhi that you, The Great Ram Raghuvanshi agreed to marry"
"Yes, Ram dear, Tell us about your fiancee." Dhruva Mami said
"Yes, I forgot to ask about my granddaughter-in-law's name. What is her name?" Nani asked.
"Her name fits just as well with our Ram Ma. Her name is Sita." Ma said
