With a wide smile, Mon guided Sam to their gate, having already agreed to take their friendship to the next level.
As Sam exited their gate, she turned around to see Mon leaning against the pillar, gazing at her with a wide smile.
"Sam... thank you. Thank you for allowing me to love again," Mon expressed gratefully.
"No, Mon. I should be thanking you for allowing me to love you. For giving 'us' a chance," Sam replied, gently pressing Mon's hand against her chest and planting a kiss on it.
"Thank you for giving me a reason to come back before I leave," Sam added.
Mon pulled her hand away from Sam and angrily replied, "You're leaving me?"
"No, Mon! I mean, you gave me a reason to come back earlier. I have a conference trip next week, so I'll be away for a week," Sam explained, reaching to grab Mon's hand again.
"Oh, okay. So that means I won't be seeing you for a week," Mon weakly replied, pouting.
"I'm afraid so, Babe. I'll miss you," Sam replied, pouting.
"Babe?" Mon responded, her tone slightly elevated.
"Why? Is something wrong? Do you want me to call you Princess?" Sam playfully replied.
"Babe is perfect... Babe!" Mon replied, giggling.
"Go now, it's getting late," Mon added, gently pushing Sam towards her car.
"Okay, Babe. I'll see you after a week, okay? I love you, Babe!" Sam replied as she got into her car.
"Bye Babe. I love you too. I will miss you!" Mon replied as she waved to Sam.
As days passed, Sam embarked on her conference trip, leaving Mon to navigate the days alone. Mon found herself constantly imagining Sam's presence, feeling her absence like an ache in her chest.
Caught in the grip of longing, Mon often drifted into blank stares, lost in thoughts of Sam. It was during these moments that Sam's name would escape her lips, a subconscious yearning for the comfort of her presence.
As Mon found herself lost in another reverie, a gentle voice called out to her, breaking through the haze of her thoughts. Startled, Mon blinked and refocused, realizing it was Yha trying to capture her attention.
"Mon," Yha called out, her voice carrying concern as she noticed Mon lost in her thoughts once again.
Mon blinked, bringing her attention back to the present. "Sorry, Yha, I didn't realize you were trying to get my attention," she admitted, offering a faint smile.
"Is everything okay? You seem preoccupied," Yha observed, her worry evident in her tone.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just thinking about something," Mon reassured her, though the distant look in her eyes betrayed her words.
Sensing Mon's need for distraction, Yha swiftly changed the topic. "Hey, how about we grab dinner tonight? There's this new place I've been wanting to try out," she suggested.
Mon's face brightened at the suggestion. "Sure, that sounds great. Let's do it," she agreed, grateful for the chance to shift her focus onto something else for a while.
After a long day at work, Yha, Chin, Noi, and Mon decided to unwind by going out for dinner together.
As they sat down at the table, Yha couldn't resist teasing Mon. "So, Mon, what were you thinking about earlier? Are you secretly daydreaming about a new lover?" she teased with a playful grin.
Mon just smiled in response, but Noi chimed in, adding fuel to the teasing. "Look at that smile. She's not denying it," Noi teased, earning a laugh from the group.
