"Psst."
I open my eyes, feeling a finger poking my shoulder. I only see darkness, then I remember I went to sleep with the comforter over my head.
"What?" I groan, swatting at the hand poking me.
"Not a morning person?" A warm voice speaks softly, clearly amused by my sour mood when I'm woken up.
"Is it morning?" I shift to my back, rubbing one eye.
I feel fingers on my face, pulling some of my curly hair from it.
"You have a lot of hair." He laughs, but I can't see him that well under here.
Who is it that's in my room? Am I still dreaming? Did I bring home some guy last night? That's not like me.
"Did you sleep in my bed?" I ask, still not all the way awake.
"Your bed? I didn't know you'd staked a claim already."
Right. I'm not at home. I'm... here.
With Sebastian.
"Oh yeah." I grumble, sitting up and pulling the cover down.
The light is still on, or maybe Sebastian had it off and turned it back on whenever he woke up.
"You're cute in the mornings." He laughs, reaching up and pinching my cheek. "So grumpy.
"How do you know what time of day it is?" I ask groggily, stretching my arms out overhead.
He doesn't answer until I end my stretch and look over at him. He's lying on his back next to me, his eyes alight with... something. And he's got that casual half grin going. I may be cute in the mornings, but he is unfairly hot.
"Breakfast." Sebastian finally answers me, sitting up and pointing at the table.
That gets my attention.
"The door was open again?" I throw the blankets off, getting out of bed.
I walk past the table, glancing at the carefully prepared platters. But I keep going to the steps, stopping at the bottom and placing my hands on my hips as I look up. I chew my bottom lip as I eye the area I know that daunting keypad is, even if I can't see it from this angle. But it's there, mocking me from the shadows.
"I wasn't awake." Sebastian says, getting to his feet as I look over my shoulder at him.
He puts his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants, looking down at his feet as he places them heel to toe while making his way to the table.
"You didn't hear it?" I grill him, attitude slipping into my voice as I cross my arms and turn to face him fully.
"Neither did you." He points out, locking eyes with me.
He shakes his head with a smirk as he pulls out the chair I sat in yesterday.
"You're starting to be a little mean to me, Harpie." Sebastian taps his finger to the chair.
With his weight rested on his arms, his muscles are flexed and I definitely stare too long at that.
"Have you already decided that I'm a burden to you?" He muses, his head falling to the side which makes his messy hair shift around.
It looks so soft, just begging for fingers to sift through all of those luscious strands. Mine twitch with the urge, but I also feel my brow lift with irritation. I'm not being mean, he's just not taking this seriously enough.
