Sandor didnt know how he ended up in this situation.
"Excuse me. Ser Sandor Clegane?"
"Not a ser." He barked back sparing the woman a glance
"But you are Sandor Clegane?"
"Aye." He agreed finishing his pint.
"I-" she glanced down to the bundle in her arms as a little cry echoed through the tavern.
"Hey get that baby out of here!" A man shouted.
"Im sorry." The woman answered trying to shush her baby.
"You dont have that horrified look about you when you saw me so I didnt fuck you." Sandor admitted bluntly.
"Not you... your brother."
"Fuck off." Sandor corrected pushing past her. She chased after him.
"My name is Sara." She added
"Dont care." Sandor barked.
"Please!"
"Go away". Sandor barked snarling back at her.
"I havent been with anyone else. I cant raise this baby alone. I want her to have a better life than I!" She begged. "Please just-"
"You should have thought about that before you started whoring." Sandor countered looking her over.
"Im not a whore". The woman - Sara- whimpered. "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time." Sandor sighed looking her in the eyes. She looked so scared. So terrified. "Please...". Sandor pulled out a few coin and pulled his cloak off wrapping it around them.
"You don't want gregor as a father to your little girl". Sandor remarked. "I will bring you more coin and food when I can-"
"Please-"
"Im sorry." Sandor countered.
"Her name is vanessa..."
"Im sorry. I cant help you. I cant be whatever the hell you want me to be. Im sorry gregor hurt you. But im no savior."
Yes he was.
Sara knew that when sandor found her the next day and the day after that, that he was her savior. What came from such an awful act of violence came a beautiful little girl.
Sara didn't understand how the two could go hand in hand. But here her little girl was thriving with sandors assistance.
"She looks good." Sandor remarked. Nessa smiled up at him reaching out.
"I cant thank you enough Sandor." Sara declared. "I got- a... new job. They are letting me bring Nessa if I- as long as I get all my work done."
"Thats good." Sandor agreed.
"I made some bread. Would you eat with us?" Sara questioned.
"I dont want to take your food." Sandor countered.
"Oh please stay. Nessa loves her uncle sandor so much." Sara begged. So sandor spent more and more time with Sara and Nessa.
Sandor visited her often bringing her food and coin. Nessa loved sandors visits. She ran to him hugging his legs. For once in his life he felt like he had a real purpose.
"Nessa?" Sandor questioned confused. He always came to them yet here little Nessa was standing before tear stains running down her cheeks as she reached out for him. Sandor looked around for her mother Sara as he picked her up. She snuggled into him. "Where is your mama?"
"The bad man took her". Nessa answered. "She said to run. Get safe."
"What bad man?" Sandor countered. Nessa shrugged leaning into him.
"Am I safe now daddy?"
"Im not your..." he stopped himself. He went looking for sara but found nothing but coprses in the lower town. Nessa had no one now. No one but him.
