One week. Seven damn days during which Lucien didn't show any sign of life. Shun was starting to wonder if he had dreamed the moment when he felt him return his kiss. No matter how hard he tried to corner him for a talk, he couldn't get hold of him. The blond was avoiding him, and he was pretty good at hiding. And this situation irritated him as much as it worried him. On one hand, he wanted to clear things up with Luc, but on the other hand, he couldn't help but curse himself for once again destroying their relationship. Even the presence of his parents in his apartment couldn't stop him from brooding. He had only said the bare minimum during the meal, barely responding to the questions asked of him.
"What's wrong, honey? You seemed distant during dinner," his mother asked, sitting down with him on the couch.
"I was just thinking about work, that's all," he replied vaguely.
"Isn't it rather a colleague who's preoccupying you so much? The blond one you've known forever and with whom you've given me quite a hard time."
"How did you...?"
"I'm your mother, I know everything there is to know about you," she enlightened him, amused by his surprise.
She could be insightful sometimes. Shun wondered if she didn't know him a bit too well for his own mental health. He hesitated between cursing her for her insightfulness or thanking her for being so understanding. Nevertheless, he decided to talk to her.
"It's been about a week since he's been avoiding me. And he's pretty good at this game."
"Maybe he needs time to sort out his feelings for you."
"Huh?" the redhead choked at his mother's words.
"Don't play innocent, I know very well what happened seven years ago before you decided to move to the other side of the country. And by the way, I disapprove of your reaction, even if on the other hand, I understand it."
Shun felt his cheeks heating up like never before this day. How did she know about that, considering he had never talked to her about it?
"Through persuasion, I managed to get Luc to spill the beans," she explained in front of his bewildered expression. "So what happened for him to need to distance himself from you again?"
"I may have kissed him when we were both drunk," the redhead blurted out, scratching the back of his head.
"What an idiot he is, I swear," he heard from behind him. "Subtlety, ever heard of it?"
"Dad! Have you been listening to us for long?"
"Long enough to know that you're just a fool when you put your mind to it," the elder retorted harshly. "Did you ever consider what Luc might feel? He's been in love with you for years, and you rejected him. You come back seven years later and kiss him while drunk. Sometimes I wonder if you even use what's between your ears."
Shun couldn't believe it. His father was scolding him, not because he wouldn't have grandchildren, but because he had acted without thinking about the blond's feelings.
"And you're not bothered that..." he started in a small voice, as if fearing his reaction when his father had just proven it unnecessary.
"It's true that I would have preferred to have a daughter-in-law, but as long as you're happy, a son-in-law works for me too."
Shun couldn't believe it. Both his parents accepted his feelings for his best friend and encouraged him to go to him.
"I'll give you his address, then you're going to see him and sort things out with him," his father ordered.
