His parents had barely left when Shun grabbed his keys and rushed to the blond's place. He couldn't wait another second without explaining things to him. He internally thanked his father for giving him Luc's address.

On the way, he didn't waste a single second, driving as fast as the speed limits allowed. He had never been so eager to reach his destination. But he also dreaded Lucien's reaction. Fortunately for his psychological well-being, he soon caught sight of the building housing his best friend.

Quickly, he climbed the stairs until he reached the apartment he was looking for. He knocked, and it didn't take long for someone to open the door. When the owner of the place saw him, he shot him such a dark look that he could have killed him on the spot if it had been possible.

"We need to talk," the redhead explained without being deterred.

"I have nothing to say to you," his counterpart replied sharply.

"Stop it," Shun ordered, grabbing Luc's arm as he tried to close the door. "Don't act like nothing happened."

"But nothing did happen. We were both drunk and tired, end of story."

"Stop running away like you did seven years ago," the redhead began to get agitated.

"You rejected me, what did you expect me to do? Act like everything was fine when it wasn't?" Luc began to get agitated.

"I was angry with you. I felt betrayed by someone I thought I knew. You always told me there would be no secrets between us, and yet you lied to me for several years. In the morning, you were already gone before I even woke up and could explain. So on impulse, I decided to leave far away. I wanted to put as much distance as possible between us. I tried to turn the page, to forget what you said to me, but it was impossible. At first, I felt bad for abandoning you after what you told me. Guilt occupied a part of my heart, preventing me from erasing those three words from my mind. So I threw myself into studies and parties, but you were still there. I even looked for a girlfriend, and as soon as I found someone I might like, I always found a flaw and compared her to you. Too tall, too short, not bubbly enough, too dull, and so on. Even when I didn't want to, you were there. I was bored, you were there. I went out, you were there. I came home drunk, you were there. I partied with my classmates, you were there. Always and forever."

"Is that true?" the blond asked in a whisper, as if all of this was just a dream.

"Do you really think I would be capable of making up a story like that? And for what purpose would I lie to you?"

"But then you...?"

"I love you, yes, and I have for a long time, even though it took me a while to realize it."

"If you knew all this time that I dream of hearing you say those words, cried the blond with joy as he threw himself on his lips to kiss him passionately."

He knew all too well.
Seven years that Luc had been waiting in hopes of finding his best friend again even if his feelings weren't reciprocated. Seven years since his best friend had expressed his love for him. Seven years that Shun had gradually come to terms with what he felt for the blond. Seven long years to finally say "I love you" to him.
