I've been waiting for this work week like never before. On Monday, a "trusted bird" told me that Liam would be back at the station on Wednesday, so I can still properly prepare for a meeting with him. Max saw that I was worried and asked what was the matter, but I pushed everything down to fatigue and signs of burnout. I wouldn't say that he believed me one hundred percent, but he didn't ask any more questions.

Esteban and Logan had also heard about Liam's return and knew perfectly well that I couldn't just ignore his appearance, so they texted me all day and came into the office a couple of times. Of course, they didn't say anything about our findings in front of Max, but still, because of their frequent visits, my partner had questions.

After another visit from Logan, I escorted him out of the office and locked the door. I pressed my forehead against the cool surface of the door and exhaled heavily.

"At least no one will break in here anymore."

I spoke quietly and heard Max lean back in his chair. Yes, our work chairs creak a bit, so quiet creaks have long been a familiar sound in our office.

He got up from his seat and went to the cooler, and I moved away from the door and sat on the edge of the desk. Max took a glass of water and came over to me. He handed it to me and kissed me on the cheek.

"Drink, calm your nerves a little."

"Thanks."

I smiled a little and drank the water that was brought to me. It was as cold as ice, so I choked a little, and Max laughed softly. He handed me a napkin, and I smiled gratefully and wiped the spilled water on myself.

Max spread my legs and came close to me, then put his hands on my hips.

"Max, not at work."

"But what am I doing? I'm just... trying to relax my partner."

His hands were gently stroking my hips, and he was talking so softly, practically whispering words in my ear, and his whispering was starting to lose my mind.

"You're making me more...tense than I already am."

I answered quietly, and I could feel Max's smug smile on my skin. His hands climbed up my thighs and, once on my buttocks, he abruptly pressed me closer to him. I put one hand on the table behind me, and I put the other arm around Max's shoulder. He in turn placed a trail of short kisses down from my ear and to my neck, and I involuntarily softly moaned.

"Am I making you more tense? Is that a good or a bad?"

"Now I find it difficult to answer."

"And if so?"

He looked at me defiantly, and then demandingly kissed my lips, and I felt that I didn't dare to refuse him. I kissed him back, and one of Max's hands slipped under my sweater, and the touch of his palm on my skin seemed to pierce me with millions of short electrical discharges. It felt just like the first time touching each other.

I put my legs around Max's thighs, thereby preventing him from pulling away from me, but he didn't even seem to want to. We kissed, and our hands groped under each other's clothes, easily scratching the skin and teasing each other. I tore myself away from my lover's lips and began to kiss his neck, which caused a soft but slightly hoarse moan from my boyfriend, and I ran my hand down his stomach and put my palm on his belt buckle. I was already starting to deal with the metal part when there was a knock on the office door and someone pulled the door handle a couple of times.

"Hey, Charles! Are you there? Frederick asked you and Max to come into his office."

"Yes, ok... okay."
