P R I N C E

A day had passed since the shootout. I was currently driving to Reid's house to explain that I had nothing to do with the incident because he had not been answering my calls which irritated me to no end. Still, I had to understand I hadn't exactly given him a reason to grant me the luxury of explaining as we didn't even get to meet before the shootout happened.

Tyrone. Tyrone was the reason for all my current problems which meant I needed to handle him quickly before this happened again.

"Did you check on it like I asked?" I questioned Dre, being purposefully vague as we could never know if someone was listening to our conversations, and despite the lack of context my query came with he knew exactly what I was talking about.

"Yeah, everything looked good. Imma have some eyes on it until you say the word." He answered, letting me know the shipment of drugs was ready to be sent to my loyal customers.

"Good, after we handle this issue, I want the twins in my office as soon as possible to fix the other problem."

My words pulled a sigh from him as it reminded him of the unfortunate situation we faced last night, "You should have never held the meeting on the borderline when you know you still hot after the drive—"

I swiftly pulled over the vehicle we were situated in when I caught the direction his sentence was heading in, "Get out."

My simple order had him leaving the car as I did the same, stepping on the sidewalk while making sure to put a good enough distance between me and the car.

When he arrived behind me, I turned and placed myself beside him before speaking.

"What the fuck is wrong with you man? You is my second in command, you know the rules, so you should know better than to do shit like that—" I began, making sure he heard how upset his actions made me since we couldn't fuck this up, it was out of the question because I had the,

Weight of the world—the weight of his approval on my shoulders and for once I wanted it in my hand...I wanted it there long enough for me to believe he was proud of me.

Dre knew the rules better than anyone, we don't talk about our 'business' in the car, in public, or in our homes unless we've hired someone to do a sweep of the place to see if it's been bugged.

Dre wasn't stupid which made me wonder why he was doing stupid shit.

"Pri—"

His efforts to cut me off and explain himself were proven useless as I raised my voice slightly to overpower his, "Did I say I was finished?"

When I received silence in return I took it as an answer before proceeding with my words.

"If you wasn't my boy and I didn't trust and know you, I would have killed you under the suspicion of you trying getting me caught up," I admitted before walking back to the car after hitting his shoulder with slight aggression.

"Tryna fuck up my business," I mumbled while entering the vehicle, and soon Dre followed, deciding not to waste any more time than we already did.

It took about an hour before Dre and I arrived at Reid's mansion, which was located in the countryside. As I drove into the driveway, one of the many guards surrounding the house pulled my car to a halt by raising his hand.

I turned off the engine which had him approaching the window that I immediately winded down by pressing one of the many buttons in the car.

I also noticed some men and women slowly crowding the vehicle with guns.

"I've been given orders to kill you if you came onto this property unann—" The man began, but I interrupted him instantly.

"I know your boss believes we have something to do with the shootout, but my companion and I came here unarmed to prove to him that I am not a threat nor his enemy." I declared, and the man turned slightly to the woman behind him, saying something in Spanish that had her heading inside.

"Step out of the vehicle." He instructed us, which had me removing my seatbelt before pushing the door open so I could step out, "Search them, and the car."

Hearing his order, the people who had surrounded the car began searching us and the vehicle for a weapon of some sort, but after a good five minutes of searching, they found nothing.

"Are they clear?" The woman he had sent inside a few minutes ago, asked, and received a confirming nod from the man, "Then they can come inside."

When she said this, she turned on her heel silently telling us to follow her as she made her way back inside, and we heeded her wordless order by trailing behind her.

It took about two minutes before we arrived in front of a door which she knocked on until she received a 'come in' from the man behind it.

"Prince, Dre." The man greeted us when we stepped inside while the woman left, closing the door.

"Mr Lee, I'm glad you decided to meet with us, I want to explain what happened at the restaurant," I affirmed, informing him of the reason why I came here today, and the man glanced at his watch before meeting my eyes once again.

"You have three minutes." He declared, and I decided not to let a second go to waste as I spoke.

"Well, I had nothing to do with the shootout as those bullets were aimed at me because of a matter I've been trying to deal with regarding a rival mafi—gang." I began, watching his neutral expression as he silently listened to me, "I am not a threat nor am I your enemy, I believe coming here unarmed in your mansion full of bodyguards with guns, should already be enough to prove that."

Silence.

I was met by deafening silence, and before I could make a move to speak again, his voice met my ears.

"Tell me, will this rival gang be a problem for our business?"

"No, it won't," I assured him as I was already planning on dealing with the situation soon.

"Our business? Am I to assume you're planning on arranging a meeting with your boss?" Dre inquired, speaking up for the first time since we came here, and Reid smiled faintly.

"Let's talk a little more before I decide anything."
