After leaving my house, I began a journey to my usual mechanic to get the problem with Janella's car fixed, even though I knew she was in no haste since I had lent her one of my cars in the meantime.
I did my best to keep my mind off the situation with my mother because I trusted my dad to do what was necessary to find out the truth that had been standing in our faces for months now, my mother was my greatest enemy.
The sound of sirens behind me helped with removing my attention from the current chapter of my life as I slowed down the car when I realised they were hailing me down.
I pushed down my anxiety as I removed my I.D from my wallet before resting my hands on the steering wheel because it was no secret how fast things could go left.
What did they want?
It must be about them damn headlights.
I thought while looking in the mirror to capture the image of the cop who was now standing outside his car with his hand on his radio which announced the fact that he was speaking to someone.
It took him a minute but he soon proceeded towards my car.
"Good night officer." I greeted him, the moment I met his eyes.
"Good night, licences and registrations." He requested and I offered him said things before resting my hands back onto the steering wheel. "Zaheel Osei, is it?"
"Yes sir."
My confirmation had him meeting my eyes before he placed his onto the car.
"Are you aware that one of your headlights is not working?" The man questioned me, and I nodded.
"Yes officer, I was just driving to the mechanic to get it fixed." I briefed him, and he looked at me once again with a squint of his eyes.
"Give me a minute."
I couldn't object to his request so I simply and silently obliged, permitting him to turn on his heel and return to his car which he entered. It took him about two or three minutes, but soon he graced me with his presence again, though this time with a more serious look on his face that told me something was about to happen.
"Step out of the car."

"You got a new car?" My father questioned me the second I parked before our family restaurant that was currently being filled with workers who'd be helping in the expansion Zaheel had planned as an early birthday present for my brother, but I knew he used that as a guise so my father would accept the help without complaint.
"No, this is Zaheel's car, he's took mine to mechanic." I briefed him as he entered the car before closing the door and drawing his seatbelt which prompted me to do the same.
"You ain't get into no accident right?"
I shook my head, my brows leaning towards each other slightly to further show his assumptions were wrong.
"No, the headlight was just giving problems, nothing too serious."
"Okay good." He expressed, seeming relieved at this revelation which had me starting the car and pulling out of the spot I chose to park in. "You know you ain't have to pick me up, the walk from here to the house ain't even ten minutes."
"I know, but mama insisted, she said yo back's been acting up."
"You know she love to exaggerate." He stated, and I nodded.
