Jax's pov.
September 13th 2024.

These tights are itchy, this shirt is too small, and the lights are giving me a headache.
The usual friday night party living in the Hayes residence. I tried to be a good sport and attend some of the parties since everyone I know is here too. Tongue Tied by Grouplove was playing as I looked around for an escape route to my room. Yet I was too fucking late, Kayden was already on his way over to me.

"Here you go." He smirked at me shoving a beer in my hand. Gross.

"When have I ever said yes to a drink?" I sighed putting it down.

"One sip pretty please?" Kayden whined at me. While yes, he's the type of friend to give you a ride home, he's also the type of friend to abandon you for a pretty girl. Either way I love him. Maybe it's because i've known him since I was 8 but I know he will be in my life forever. When I didn't bother with a response to him he pointed at a girl with long blonde hair and 6 inch heels, "She's my goal tonight." He slurred. Did I mention this mans always wasted?

"Uh huh good luck shes literally wearing a wedding ring." I rolled my eyes and headed for my room.

Kayden is addicted to throwing parties and being the center of attention. So we made a deal. When we moved to L.A. last January, I told him he can have one party a week. That might seem like a lot but he pays basically all the rent and buys everything I need for me, I owe him this I guess. On other days of the week he's at other parties, bars, or working on music.

I shoved through a couple making out on the stairs and opened my door ready to put on pajamas.
Except there was a guy on my bed. I wasn't that surprised, I didn't lock my door or anything. He quickly looked at me when he heard the door. Damn, he's pretty.

His super light blonde hair looked perfectly curled and healthy, which made me think it was all natural. Although his brows were dark brown. His outfit wasn't anything crazy but god did he look good in it. Black sweater and black jeans with a thick silver chain on them. He looked around 19 or 20 but it was hard to tell.

I must've looked like a fucking idiot because I know for a fact he said something, I was just too distracted to hear. "Sorry what?" I managed to get out, I sounded timid. Real cool Jax.

He kept his blank stare on me, "What're you doing in here? Leave." His voice was rough and sounded accusatory, as if I had just done something horribly wrong.

I was about to defend myself, but then he stood up. He had to be over 6 feet tall because he was literally towering over me. I shifted my eyes away from him feeling a little uncomfortable, "This is.. my room.."

His gaze lightened up and became softer immediately. Thank god. "Shit my bad," He laughed. "I'm hiding from someone."

"Who?" I wasn't even sure why I was asking. But I couldn't hold back.

He rolled his eyes, "My ex. She won't leave me the fuck alone." I had to stop from laughing because why does he need to hide? He's scarier than Kayden. Surely he could tell her to fuck off and she would be afraid.

I wasn't really sure what my next move would be. I could offer him to stay, or awkwardly tell him to leave. I'm not much for confrontation so I chose the easier option, "I'm just gonna do some school work if you need to stay." I can't explain it but my heart was racing just saying that. He's not really someone I would usually talk to.

"Well aren't you sweet? What's your name kid?"

"Jax. And you are ..?"

"Travis." I was expecting him to say more or sit back down but instead he put one hand on my waist and moved me out of his way. Brushing past me and exiting the room.

I watched him walk downstairs then closed my door. For some reason I felt a tad disappointed he didn't take my offer to stay.
