Jax's pov.11:00 am
The plane ride was absolutely excruciating. It was only three hours to Dallas but my anxiety was off the charts, I could feel my palms getting sweatier as we got closer and closer to Texas.
Sadly I was sat next to an obnoxiously republican couple on the flight, they kept going on and on about the election. Not even my music could drown out their conversation. After a long morning I felt nauseous getting to the hotel, so nauseous I threw up twice. I really wish I remembered to take my medication this past week, god i'm so forgetful. Before I knew it, my uber was here to pick me up.
As anxious as I was about seeing my mom, I weirdly missed Travis. Yeah it's only been 28 hours since I saw him sleeping in my bed, but I felt horrible about ignoring his text. Why the hell am I thinking about him right now?
My thoughts were interrupted by my driver.
"We're here. Five stars right?" He said with a thick country accent and smile.
I smiled back, "Sure, thank you so much."
I had on a gray t shirt, and some black jeans. I tried to keep it really tame for seeing them again, but still masculine so they feel weird about calling me she.
Honestly I might look a bit different physically too, it's hard to tell because I don't look at old photos of myself, but my jaw was definitely sharper. I know for a fact my voice is way deeper too.I knocked on the door to my family home practically shaking. Everything inside of me told me to run away.
It opened to reveal Ivy, my twin sister, thank god.
"Jax!" She said wrapping her arms around me, I smiled and did the same.
God she's beautiful. Her long dark hair contrasted her pale skin and dark red shirt, her makeup looked flawless. We were actually completely identical through our childhood, but I often forget that."How's New York treating you?" I asked stepping inside scanning the entry way for my mom.
"So good! I miss you so much though seriously."
We used to be extremely close, but in highschool we drifted apart when she went to a catholic school and I went to public school. Im not even sure she's still religious though, she despised that school.
When I got kicked out, we sort of lost touch for a bit. Luckily she reached out a year ago and we've been calling and texting constantly, she lives with our older brother Cole in NY.Cole wouldn't be here though, he absolutely loathes the family, and well, so do I kind of. But I really want that to change.
Ivy dragged me to the living room where my mom and Brian sat on the couch.
My mom looked older somehow, her black hair was straightened and she was smiling. Brian on the other hand looked at me disgusted, I avoided eye contact completely.
"Lily! I am just so happy you're here." She exclaimed deadnaming me once again, she didn't get up to hug me, which kinda stung.
Brian glared at me, "Why do you look like that?"
My heart dropped and I just tried to remain calm, I don't want to speak to him.
"Honey please shh. Let's just tell them the news." Mom said, grabbing two little pink gift bags.
Ivy and I grabbed a bag each, and opened them. My sister looked at me mouth wide open as she pulled out a black and white sonogram of an ultrasound. I stared back, wondering if this was for real. Inside was also a little pink bow, suggesting it's a girl I guess.
