The biting wind whipped around me, stealing what little warmth my clothes provided. "Why me?" I muttered, teeth chattering. This was supposed to be the destination, the culmination of weeks spent dodging cliffs, hilichurls, and Childe's unpredictable battle lust. Now, all I could think about was retreating to a nice, warm fireplace.
"We should nearly be at the meeting point!" Childe's voice boomed over the howling wind, his form barely visible through the swirling snow. He pushed against the storm, a figure almost at home in this icy hell.
"Great weather for a picnic!" Lumine shouted back sarcastically. Apparently, this weather was nothing new for her. She glided through the blizzard with an effortless grace that made me furious. She had to be mocking me!
"This is a picnic?!" I yelled, frustration bubbling over. Here I was, struggling to take a single step without falling flat on my face, while she waltzed around like a snowflake on a light breeze. A shiver wracked my entire body, making me retract my earlier complaint. Cold? This wasn't cold, it was FRIGID!
Lumine turned back, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "You get used to it," she said, her voice barely audible over the wind. "I've passed through here a lot."
"Well, I haven't!" I retorted, my voice laced with both annoyance and a tinge of self-pity. Why, oh why, did I agree to come on this mission? Maybe it wasn't the Fatui I should be worried about, but surviving this frozen wasteland.
With a sigh, I pulled my threadbare cloak tighter, the thin fabric offering little protection from the elements. Monsters, Fatui, blizzards - it seemed this adventure just kept getting better and better.Turning back into the storm, I trudged forward, cursing the day I ever volunteered (or maybe wasn't quite so "volunteered") for this mess. Well, I got to go. The monsters are attacking again.
