I yawned, the sound swallowed by the cacophony of Lumine and Childe's argument. It was like a chronic illness at this point - annoying, but strangely familiar. Kaeya, however, wasn't as accustomed to the bickering.

"Can you two be quiet for one freaking second!?" he roared, his patience wearing thin. A flicker of surprise crossed Lumine and Childe's faces before they promptly resumed their back-and-forth.

Honestly, I couldn't blame them. We'd been stuck with each other since the very beginning of this wild goose chase, and tempers were bound to flare. Still, their constant bickering was not only annoying but potentially dangerous. I'd been letting it slide, hoping it would burn itself out, but Kaeya clearly wasn't as tolerant.

"Can you two ever stop arguing?" He cut them off again, his voice laced with exasperation.

Lumine and Childe finally fell silent, exchanging a tense look. Childe cleared his throat, ready to propose a truce.

"Here's the deal," he began, "We'll stop arguing..."

"If you promise, on your life, that you won't run away or do anything stupid," Lumine finished, her gaze pinning Kaeya in place.

"That's not exactly what I was going to say..." Childe trailed off, his bravado faltering under the combined glare of Lumine, Kaeya, and myself. "But fine, I'll deal with it!" he conceded, throwing his hands up in surrender.

Kaeya grunted in satisfaction and turned back towards the path, leading the way. Lumine opened her mouth to retort, but I cut her off.

"What were you going to say?" I asked Childe, curious what alternative he had in mind.

"Nothing important," he mumbled, avoiding eye contact. Luckily, I knew better than to pry.

Lumine, however, wasn't as good at keeping her thoughts to herself. Just as she was about to fire back at Childe, he shot her a withering look that silenced her protest. I blinked in surprise. Here I was, assuming Childe was the instigator of their arguments, but it seemed there was more to it than met the eye.

Childe sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Whatever," he muttered, and stalked off to catch up with Kaeya.

"You know," I said impulsively, "if you guys weren't arguing constantly, I think you'd be pretty cute together. But, I mean, it's a part of relationships, after all." A quick glance at Lumine's darkening expression told me I'd pushed my luck. "Not in a bad way!" I yelped, bolting towards Childe and Kaeya before Lumine could unleash her wrath.
