Idea 1:
Soooo Alastor is a mamas boy? We all know this, and if you didn't educate yourself
But I have a feeling he got into killing because his father was abusive and he loves his mom so much he wanted to protect her
So one day he just got mad about something he did and go on the run from his mom thinking she would tell the police and never did thus becoming a radio host to try and get his own career now that he was on his own
And when he went to hell he still misses his mom and that's why he wanted to gain power, so he'd hopefully see his dad again and get the full payback, why he went though all the overlords and made deals, trying to figure out where he was

Idea 2:
Alastor definitely likes bitter savory foods and drinks and is an insomniac
So when no one is awake in the early hours of the morning he will drink a type of wine with a grape on the side of the glass after rubbing it around the rim while reading a book
