The assessment. Something I had been waiting for a few moons, it was finally here!

The four Clans were all on a little part of land. Just ahead of SapphireClan was a huge

river – at least 60 cattails, I'm sure – that connected to another piece of land. Stepping stones crossed the whole river. Scatteredstars had assigned me here, while Crystalfrost assigned Goldpaw to the NightClan border.

I got onto the first stone and slowly made my way across. Water was hitting the edges of the stones, sometimes slipping onto my paws. I was very cautious not to slip. In the middle of the stones, I halted, glancing down at the river. Fish swam in huge groups just beneath me. With a proud purr, I crouched down to the river's surface.

Another group was approaching...

Any second now...

The water's surface ruptured as I slammed my paw in, piercing through warm flesh. I dragged my paw out, noticing I had caught 2 smaller-sized fish.

I watched my paw in awe. "Wow," I murmured under my breath with a tone of satisfaction.

I was able to catch one more fish before heading back to SapphireClan's bank. It was covered in sand, moss, driftwood and sodden logs here and there.

I approached a huge piece of driftwood. It smelled of birds. I crouched down and was able to hear a soft rustle inside, most definitely of feathers.

I stuck my paw inside, wrapping it around a small, feathery animal. I took it out and batted it to death. It was a pretty, male blue jay. I had always loved those birds. They were stunning; mesmerizing, if you will.

The bushes on the river seemed to call my name. I pricked my ear, turning to them.

Eyes stared back at me – a warm, inviting amber, surrounded by fluffy white fur. At first, it looked like Littlefrost, but he was on the wrong side of the territory. It had to be a rogue.

I shrugged it off. It wasn't on our territory after all. But...

What if it came to steal my bird?

I took my prey and padded away from the river bank, hiding behind a bush. I stored my catches in there, before returning to the water. The cat was gone.

Thank StarClan.

When sunhigh had arrived, I had caught 3 fish, 1 bird, and 1 water vole. Pretty good, if I would say so myself!

As I began back to the bush where I hid my prey, I noticed Scatteredstars watching me. I stared at her. She stared back.

Finally, she came out of the bush with a loud chuckle. "Young Silverpaw, you did so well!" She exclaimed, looking at my prey.

I began to beam with a childish grin, sitting down on the grass and gleaming up at her.

"You have shown excellent fishing, hunting, and stalking skills," she congratulated me, "you pass."

I began to bounce up and down happily, licking her shoulder as a sign of respect. "Thank you, Scatteredstars, thank you!!"

When we reached the camp again, Goldpaw was with Fadedlight and Astrowing. I padded over to them.

"I passed!!" Goldpaw squealed with joy, running up to me.

I shared her enthusiasm. "I did too!"

My mom, with her quaint, warm smile, gave a soft purr. "How lovely, darlings."
