Despite being well-hidden from the public, her influence is widely known. Neither brash nor capricious in nature, for generations, leaders have turned to Amaryllis for advice on important decisions, often inciting rumors of her omnipotence.
Ardent about her work, Amaryllis is known to throw herself into things with an assiduous nature, and only someone with no care for living anymore would dare interrupt her when she is in the middle of a task.
When people hear that Amaryllis is ancient, they assume to find an emaciated, witch-like lady, with gnarled hands and a permanent scowl. In remarkable contrast, however, she hardly looks a day over thirty.
For decades, rumors have floated around about Amaryllis. Yet no one has any inkling of how she came to be. With Amaryllis, nothing is limpid. In a split-second, everything one thought one knew could turn out to be false.
Such is the case with Amaryllis. What very few know is that Amaryllis was sent down by the gods as indemnity after the first World War. She came with a price, however. One day, far from now, she will disappear, leaving no trace. Years and years of progress brought about by her wisdom will be undone in an instant.
For, after all, Amaryllis means "to sparkle."
And as everyone knows, all that glitters is not gold.
