Esmerelda POV
"Mate," Arden said in my head, "Mate is at the house next to us."
"I know Arden," I said.
Not long after we arrived at the house, Carmen started setting up the Duel Ring for the fight. I wore tight joggers with my oversized Nike shirt but would take it off anyway. Zavier was at the house, and he was going to be the judge while we sparred. As we warmed up, I took off my shirt. The last time I spared, Carmen took me to the edge of death. Since then, I tried to get stronger.
"You all know the rules," Zavier said, standing between us. There are no wolves, and it's strictly human strength. There are no claws and no fangs. It's a clean fight until one yields."
We both nodded. Zavier gave us the signal, and Carmen slammed into me, causing me to gasp for air. Even with human strength, she can still beat my ass. We were in the middle of the fight when a gush of wind flew in our direction, and the delicious forest scent caused me almost to shift. We were sniffing the air, trying to find our mates.
I looked at the house next to us and saw her standing in our direction. I used Arden's eye abilities to see her more. I locked eyes on her, and my wolf wanted to go to her house. I stood still until she turned around.
I looked at Carmen, who was also looking up at the window. I growled at her, and she immediately growled back.
"Not looking at your mate" " she said, "Mine is up there as well."
"Wait, what?" I said, looking back. She was correct; her mate was there, too.
I looked at Zavier; he was mind-linking someone. As soon as he was done, he smiled.
"My mate was with them; she said they are coming over here for an introduction," he said, smirking.
Fuck! I use my wolf speed to head to the bathroom.
"Mate is coming," Arden said in my head. He was pouncing up and down, "We must be clean."
I know! I told him in my head. I was scrubbing hard, trying to be clean. It was probably my fastest time in and out of the shower. I put on my black baggy jogger when Zavier mind-linked me, telling me they were at the door.
"Mate is here," Arden said, trying to take the rein.
"Arden", I whisper, "Stop! She doesn't know about us yet. Let me speak to her."
Arden huffed in my head, not wanting to agree. I pushed him to the back of my head while I calmed down. I put on the best shirt I had at the moment. I walked out of the room and into the hallway. My mate's scent was near, and it was drowning me. Arden was howling crazy in my head while I was walking toward laughter. Zavier and Jordyn were speaking to each other in the kitchen.
"Alpha," Zavier said, "Meet my mate, Jordyn."
Jordyn bowed to me, "Alpha."
"For now, please do not bow while my mate is here. She does not know about the secret yet. Where are they? You said they were at the door." I asked them.
"Allyson and Rebecca haven't arrived yet. Allyson's mom wanted to speak to her for a moment. She will knock when she gets here.", Jordyn answered. Zavier pointed toward Carmen's room with a knowing look. I walk over and knock on the door, "Carmen, it's me."
Carmen opened the door slowly and only a little bit. "Is my mate here?"
She looks so nervous. This will be the first time she speaks to her mate, and I enjoy her pain and suffering.
"Shut up, Esmeralda," She said, scoffing.
I walked away and headed toward the living room. Carmen soon arrives looking her best as well. I was pacing at the front door, waiting nervously for the knock. Then it became Carmen and me walking pace.
