Allyson POV
As soon as the tryout ended, we hurdled around Coach. I sat down as Coach explained our performance. I was dripping in sweat and was ready for a shower. Throughout the tryout, the sense of someone staring at me never left. I look around, trying to find Kyson in the bleachers. Once I spotted him, I smiled at him. He was still talking to Brooklyn. I never knew they were close, I thought in my head. I looked around and saw two figures close to where Kyson and Brooklyn were.
One of them had a cap on her head, staring ahead at the group I was in. For some reason, I felt her eyes on me. I couldn't see her appearance, but it stirred something inside me. We held each other's gazes until it was time to head for the locker room. I watch as the two figures walk down the bleachers and toward the entrance to the field.
I don't know what came over me, but I wanted to meet her. My eyes never left her figure as I walked to the entrance. She spotted me, and we held gazes again. The closer I got, the faster my heart raced. I stood in front of her and took in her appearance. She was tall, 6 feet or a little more. She wore a black T-shirt and joggers. Her black hair was blowing in the wind, suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
She tilted the cap she had, causing our eye contact to break. I felt strangely sad. I raise my hand to lift her cap and stare into her golden, hazel eyes. There was something familiar about those eyes; I don't remember where I saw it, though.
"Hi," I said softly. I stared into her eyes, confused. Why do I feel this way? I thought to myself.
"What is your name?" I asked her. I needed to know and hear her voice. I could tell by her language that she was nervous. Her Adam's apple kept bobbing up and down, and her chest moved heavily up and down, causing me to smirk internally. Her eyes flicked toward my lip as she moved closer to me. My heart was beating so fast that I thought I was having a heart attack.
"What is your name?" I asked her again. This time, I gave it a commanding voice. Her golden eyes stare as she mumbles under her breath. I lean in closer, "What was that?"
"Her name is Esmeralda," said the girl next to her. She appears to be her sister. They look alike.
Esmerelda, I thought. Her name seemed to roll perfectly off my tongue. I turned my attention back to her. I was about to ask her a question when I heard Kyson's voice.
"Allyson, let's go," Kyson said.
I glanced back at Esmerelda and then headed toward Kyson. That's right, I have a boyfriend. I thought I shouldn't be thinking about anyone else, trying to snap myself from her daze. I could feel her eyes staring at me as I kissed Kyson. It didn't feel right touching his lip. I shook off the feeling as we began to walk. Suddenly, I felt the ground shake for a moment. I looked back, but I didn't see Esmerelda anywhere.
The shower room had separate stalls, allowing all the girls privacy. Jordyn and I took two stalls next to each other. We chatted, catching up on summer.
"So Jordyn, tell me about your new boyfriend," I ask, scrubbing my arms with soap.
"Well, he is very handsome. He is tall and very muscular. He loves making jokes", Jordyn's voice said.
"Okay, is he good in bed?" I ask.
"Bruh," Jordyn replied.
I looked past the stall wall and saw Jordyn's head poke out. I smiled at her and said, "What, give me the deets."
"We did it once," Jordyn said shyly, "We were at a lake. He was a gentleman and took it slow. But I know you want more details. He is very toned; his muscles were flexing the whole time. His hair was soft and smooth."
