Mackenzie's POV
It's been a day since Richie forced Mackena and me into his car. We haven't gone to any buildings or houses, we've just been constantly driving. The windows have been blacked out; I don't know where we're going or where we are. Everything seems to be on a never ending, downwards spiral. God, I'm bored out of my mind. I hoped I'd been carrying for something I could entertain myself with for a while, but all I'm seeing are some old receipts and loose change; nothing useful or entertaining.
'Ugh, how could this get any worse' I thought to myself.
Just then, a crumpled up piece of paper down on the floor caught my eye.
I picked it up and opened it as quietly as I could; and read it.
"Dear Mackenzie,
I know you miss us a great deal, and we miss you just as much. We just wanted to tell you that we're fine up here. We're with the Lord now, and he will protect us. That was really nice of Jon to have our pictures at your wedding. We were there in spirit. We just thought you might want to know a little bit about heaven. It's truly beautiful up here. The ground is made of clouds, and we all fly with wings all about. If you look down, you can see Earth! We've been watching you and Jon. It's really something special you two have. It's wonderful to see you happy again. We've been thinking of you a lot lately, when you were in the coma, when you were sick, when you got a job, everything. We just hope you know that we'll always be here for you, and we can't wait to see you again. Have a nice life while you can. You never know when it could be cut short.
-Love, Eden Pauley and Anna Skaggs. "
"What..." I whispered.
"What are you doing back there?!" Richie yelled.
He turned and saw me with the paper in my hands.
"Where did you get that?" He snapped.
"Why do you have this" I yelled back, ignoring his rather rude question.
He jerked the car to the side of the rode and pulled me out of the car. I landed hard on the pavement.
Richie grabbed my hair and slapped the left side of my face forcefully.
"Don't you ever yell at me. Do you understand me? You're mine. I own you now, and I'm not putting up with that." He said with his teeth clamped shut.
"...You don't own me...You'll NEVER own me!" I snapped back.
"Shut up!" He demanded as he tightened his grip on my hair.
"Why do you have that note?!" I screamed.
"I don't have to tell you anything. Now I said SHUT UP!" He said as he threw my head to the ground.
I tried to lay still on the ground as he stepped over me, constantly pacing back and forth.
"I wrote the letter..."
I tried to sit up, but my head is spinning in all direction. I can't move.
The last thing I remember is Richie picking me up bridal style, and plopping me in the trunk of the car.
All I can do is think about what just happened to me. What does he mean he wrote the letter? Could anybody be sick and twisted enough to do anything like that? Well, apparently the answer to that question is a definite yes. The only other thoughts going through my throbbing head are Mackena being alone in the backseat with that monster and Jon. What is Jon doing? Is he worried about me? Does he miss me? Did he get the police involved. Oh, let me add one last thought to that list: Are we going to die? That one scares me a bit, I try not to think about it too much...
