Mackenzie's POV
I can't believe I'm having another kid. Are we going to be able to support two
kids financially? God, I hope so. I know what I have to do. I'm going to have to get a job. You know what, I'm going to go out right now and start looking for some jobs! I grabbed my keys and slipped out the door, but as I reached for the car door I realized something. He's going to know something is up if I just take off by myself all of the sudden. I ran back inside and picked up Mackena off of the floor, disturbing her very intense session of "lets rip up all of mummy's magazines!"."Hey Jon,". I called.
"Yeah?" He answered as he walked into the room.
"I'm gonna go to the store, Ok." I said.
"Oh um, Ok.". He replied.
I headed out the door once more with Mackena in my arms. I fastened her into her car seat and drove down to the strip.
"Hmmm..." I said to myself as I looked at all of the businesses surrounding me.
"Let's see, there's a super market. What do you think Mackena?" I asked.
"Nnnno!" She said.
"Ok...What about a restaurant?" I asked.
"Nnnnnno!" She said.
"Fine." I said.
Mackena has been talking a lot more recently. Nobody knows why she wouldn't talk while I was asleep, but we keep that our little secret.
Just then I thought about something. Where is Mackena going to stay while I work? Jon is usually at the recording studio all day on the weekdays.
"Crap..." I whispered.
Wait a minute! What if I put Mackena in a daycare program, and I could double up and work there! This is so perfect!
"Mackena, do you wanna go to daycare? It's a really fun place with lots of other kids, and toys!" I said.
"Toys!!" She exclaimed.
"I wanna play with with da toys now Mummy!" She yelled.
"Ok, ok! Calm down!" I chuckled.
We drove to 'Tot Spot Daycare' and walked in. I set Mackena down on the floor next to some toys while I casually walked up to the front desk.
"Can I help you?" Asked the lady at the front desk.
"Yes, I'd like to enroll my daughter, Mackena, and possibly fill out a job application." I said.
"Ok, no problem. What's your daughters full name?" She asked.
"Mackenzie Alice Jovi." I answered.
"Jovi? Like, Jon Bon Jovi?" She questioned.
"Yep, he's my fiancé." I confirmed.
"Oh wow. You're a lucky girl." She said.
"Ha. I like to think so." I said jokingly.
"Anyways, how old is your daughter?" She asked.
"She's three." I answered.
"And does she have any allergies?" She asked.
"None that I know of." I sated.
"Ok, Mackena is in the system. The monthly fee is $19.99, but if you get hired we can take that out of your paycheck." She said.
"Ok, that sounds great!" I exclaimed.
She handed me a clipboard and a pen, and instructed me to fill out the sheets of questions. I sat down in a small green plastic chair that was next to Mackena, and looked at the board.
Ok...first question...
"What experience do you have with small children?"
"I have one three year old daughter, and I am going to have a second child soon." I wrote in the blank.
What felt like hours passed as I finally finished all of the sheets of paper. I marched up to the front desk and handed her the board.
"Thank you very much! Have a nice day." She said.
"You too." I replied as I scooped up Mackena and walked out the door.
I drove Mackena home, and put her down for a nap. As I walked out of her room, Jon stopped me.
"Did you get what you needed?" He asked.
"No, they didn't have what I was looking for." I answered.
"Oh," He said.
I walked past him and into our room. I plopped down onto the bed and thought about how in the world I'm going to raise two kids.
Jon's POV
I wonder what Mackenzie is planning. I can just tell that something's not right. Should I say something? Nah...I don't want to offend her or something. Gosh, I'm tired. I really want to take a nap right about now. I walked into our room to find Mackenzie stretched out on her side of the bed.
Awww she's so cute when she's tired. I laid down next to her and put my arm around her shoulder.
"Long day?" I asked.
"Very." She confirmed.
She nestled up into my arms, and kissed me for a few seconds.
"What was that for?" I asked.
"I've just missed your kisses." She chuckled.
"Oh well don't do that!" I said.
I pulled her back into a really long kiss as we laid there. She gripped my hair as she pressed her lips against mine. Then she pulled away and told me she loved me.
"I love you too." I said back.
"Now get some rest, you've been really tired lately." I added.
And with that, she drifted off into sleep. I soon did the same.
