COWBOY BEBOP X OC (SPIKE)
Alias: Scarlett
Opening to the book:
It was just another normal day of bounty hunting. Nothing exciting really. I had just turned in a small bounty since I was a little low on food. It was worth 50,000 woolongs, but it was enough to get more food to last a while.
Bounty hunting for me wasn't as much of a career as more of a hobby. Something to make a bit of cash to get by.
My career… running. Running from my past that I feared would eventually catch up to me. So in order to avoid that past for as long as possible, I went by an alias of Scarlett. I picked it because of my dark red hair. Not the best maybe to be on the run with, but I didn't care all that much because I liked it. Even if it comes to bite me in the ass later. I guess I'll deal with it when the time comes then.
The one thing I do miss though from my past is my childhood best friend. I think about him almost everyday, even though I highly doubt he's thought about me since I last saw him. The only thing I know about him now was that he's a bounty hunter like me. Probably trying just as hard as I am to avoid the past.
Maybe I'll see him again one day.
I continued my walk back to my Starfighter, so I could go back to my ship and make a list of food to get. I hopped in my dark red Starfighter and turned it on heading into the orbit of mars. As soon as I reached outer space I turned on my autopilot and set to go back to my ship. I leaned back in my seat propping my legs onto the console and closed my eyes slowly drifting off to sleep.
****
My eyes shot open at sudden blaring sirens throughout my ship. Any post sleep drowsiness I would've had wasn't present as I assessed the situation. My ship was nowhere in sight, my fighter had no fuel and there appeared to be damage to my hull. I silenced the alarm, so I could think of my options.
I only had one.
Wait for help.
I hopped on my coms and started to do my spiel.
“If anyone can hear me, my ship is damaged and it appears I'm out of fuel. I would greatly appreciate anyone who can help me.”
I did this… for the next few hours.
****
“My ship is damaged and out of fuel. Please help.”
I sighed and then my stomach grumbled. I'm starving.
“My ship is damaged and out of fuel. You help, I buy food.”
Fuck this. I'd rather die now than wait.
I shut my eyes and leaned back. Last time.
“My ship’s fucked. I'll buy dinner if you help.”

Jet and I were sitting around as he lectured me about the last bounty. “If you didn't break so much shit we would have money for some food right now.”
I took a puff of my cig and blew out. “Yeah whatever. At least I caught the guy.”
Suddenly a voice came through the console. “My ship’s fucked. I'll buy dinner if you help.”
Jet scrambled over to the comms to reply while I got up and looked out the window. There was a fighter floating through space with a giant dent in the side of it.
“Hello?” Jet started talking to the lone fighter.
“Hi.” They sounded surprised to hear from someone. Wonder how long they've been drifting?
“You need some help?”
“Yes, please. Thank god.” They sounded familiar. Like someone long lost.
“How long you been there?”
“Hours. I was about ready to give up. So whaddya say? Dinner?” I just can't put my finger on it.
“Yeah. I'll reel ya in.” Just as I was about to go and grab a sneak peak at the screen, Jet turned it off and began getting the ship ready to help this person out.
Well I guess I'll see who they are when they get on board. At least we're getting food out of this.

“Yeah. I'll reel ya in.” The nice man turned off the comms as I looked up to see an old fishing ship with the word Bebop painted on the side of it.
I sighed in relief. Finally someone came close enough. I chuckled to myself. And at the transmission I sent out too. I leaned back in my chair and waited to be rescued.
