JK's POV:
Kaia ended up crying herself to sleep on the plane, Ricky picked us up from the airport. He's currently driving us to the hospital so ia can see Moonie. Ricky said we could have just called Mark or Clay but she said she would rather just go see him. Wanting to hear what was going on with her brother from the doctors mouth herself.
We pull up to the hospital and I help her out of the vehicle, both of us walking to the front desk checking.
"Jae told you the room number right. I can't remember anything right now."
"Yeah I remember. He's in 802."
"Okay."
Taking her hand in mine, we step into the elevator. It's a silent ride up to the ICU level of the hospital. Following silently behind her, she hugs both Clay and Mark in the waiting room. Both ranch hands nod their heads in my direction as I follow behind her as she walks into the ICU.
Her hand pauses midair in front of Moonie's room, flexing her fingers open and closed as her hand inches closer to the handle.
"Ia, do you need a minute?"
Shaking her head vigorously, "No, I need to see him."
"There isn't any rush."
"We still have to go id my dad."
"That can wait too."
Shaking her head again, "No. I want it done. I NEED it done." Her voice trembles as she speaks. Fuck I'm glad we don't have a tour right now or anything else planned. She needs time.
"You are going to stay with me right?"
Leaning forward and kissing the top of her head, "Always."
Taking one last breath she then opens the door, my breath catches in my throat as I look at Moonie. He's pale, has tubes and lines running everywhere including one in his mouth connected to a machine. Eli looks up, she looks exhausted, bags under her eyes. Balam is sleeping in her arms.
"Eli how is he?" Kaia asks as she slowly steps closer.
"He's stable."
"Did they say anything else?"
"A lot of things but I haven't been able too."
Kaia drops a hand to her shoulder, "It's okay, Eli. I'll talk with the doctor. Have you slept?"
"Not really."
I hear Kaia sigh, "Have you had Balam this whole time?"
"Yes, I just..."
"JK and I will take her home with us."
"I couldn't ask you to do that. You have enough..."
"Eli, I wont take no for an answer. This isn't a place for a little one. Plus, you need to get some sleep and I don't think I can convince you to leave my brother."
