The Alpha's Secrets

Chapter 3: Cyrus

Three years, I thought. My wolf howled with impatience. We've been traveling along the east coast and had gone into the center states, but no luck. Every girl we've seen, even guys did not have the pull I was desperately searching for.

I ran through the trees in a haste, as the blue sky above me started to turn into vibrant orange and pink colors. The clouds swirling fast and turning darker. The giant star in the distance descending, signaling it was time for the family dinner we had almost every night now.

My father would be angry if I missed yet another one of mother's homemade family meals. She's been doing this for months now, as if thinking that I would someday bring home the future Luna, giving a great impression and home welcome with the dinner she prepared.

Through the clearing, a large building that I called my pack house came into view, but I sped past it. The pack house was filled to the brim with members and their mates. So Alphas, Betas, Gammas and warriors had their own homes. I made it to my house that wasn't that far away from everyone else's.

I went behind the shed and snatched my spare clothing, which I threw on hastily and was quick to go inside.I smoothed out my shirt and formed a smile to the smell of freshly made lasagna. One of my favorite things to eat that my mother made sometimes. I used to eat it all the time and cooked along side my mother. That was apart of my training she said; when I would meet my mate.

I walked into the kitchen where my mother was bringing out dishes to set on the dinner table. When she saw me, her face brightened even more than it already was, "Honey! You made it home on time!"

And I didn't miss the small glance she threw behind me. I held in the low growl that I almost let out. It bothered me that I still haven't found my mate yet, so that's why she isn't so obvious like she was a year ago. I frowned replacing the big smile I once had.

She noticed this and made a face. Before I could anything, she reached up and squeezed my cheeks.Something she's had the habit of doing ever since I was 3 with chubby cheeks. My cheeks were definitely not chubby anymore, more like defined and sharp. I didn't know it was even possible to squeeze them.

"Awe come on honey. You just got home! No need to make that face. I made the best lasagna I could possibly make tonight, and your father is already sitting at the dinner table. Go join him and chat. Tell him about your search."She nudged him towards the diner room with a sad smile, it wasn't just his mate she was talking about, but also the daughter in law that she has always wanted.

I didn't disobey and walked into the other room. The large form of my father greeted me, sitting at the head of the table. The forced smile and knowing look in his eye reminded me of my mother just a moment ago. My father wished to make me the official Alpha soon, but without a Luna, I wasn't going to receive it. As of now, I was only taking on half of the duties that an Alpha should.

"Did you finish what I asked of you?"My father said darkly, but with one nod from me, he seemed to relax visibly in his seat. "Okay then, take a seat son. I would like to inform you about something important that was just faxed to me this morning from Alpha Max." I followed what I was told and took a seat, waiting calmly for him to go on.
