It had been a month since Felix had his casts off, all surgeries were a complete success and he had now completed flight sim training to be sure he was still fit to fly and had aced all the tests.
Felix walked into the command centre his hair now short and spiked up, he had scars across his hands and legs but everyone was happy to see him
"Thunderbird 1 reporting for duty," Felix announced.
"Welcome back man" Brick greeted.
"Good to see you here again Felix" Eve welcomed.
"Glad you doing well now jet for brains," Calum laughed
"It's good to have you back," Eliza smiled.
"Thank you, everyone," Felix thanked his team and everyone hugged him, along with Calum punching him.
"First job for me and you Felix I'm coming as the backup pilot in case of emergencies but the new Thunderbird 1 needs a test flight," Eliza announced once she had everyone's attention.
"I look forward to it shall we get going," Felix asked.
"Yes let's the quicker it's done the quicker we can get the team back on full missions" Eliza replied as she and Felix went into the blue-lit chamber behind the picture of Felix before it closed, the pool alarm sounded and began to retract.
Inside the new improved Thunderbird 1 Felix has activated its take-off sequence detached from the holds and was ready for take-off.
"Anti-detection shield activated ready for take-off," the computer informed.
"Let's do this shall we Captain" Felix smirked, he was happy to be in the pilot's seat again, even if it was just for a bit.
"Yep, a nice calm flight Felix" Eliza instructed.
"Yeeeeh whatever" Felix responded slamming the accelerator forward to max thrust as the craft shot out with its usual jet howl visually the new craft looked the same but speed and handling had been greatly increased thanks to Calum's expertise.
"Wooooow this is amazing handling is better speed is way higher I'll be able to make things way more precise now Calum is unreal," Felix said happily with the new speed and the handling improvements as he did corkscrew loops and close and sharp corners Eliza merely watched horrified of crashing and squeaked from sharp turns and spinning.
The pair returned half an hour later and Felix was first to enter the command centre and Eliza looked like she'd fall over at any given moment.
"So how'd it go?" Eve asked.
"NeVeR eVeR again am I flying with him in control" Eliza replied shakily pointing at Felix as he walked in.
"That was awesomeeee!" Felix said beaming happily, happy to be flying as he used to.
"So good test Felix?" Brick asked.
"Oh it's the best a lot fast handling is a lot sharper it's incredible" Felix beamed.
"Good to hear I think we'll be needing you back in the field soon" Eve weighed in.
"Very true" Brick agreed.
"Well Calum has done an amazing job and he told me he's also worked on upgrading all the rest of the Thunderbirds and even equipment for Thunderbird 5 but he'll need taking up there to install it" Felix announced.
"Oh, how's he upgraded all the crafts?" Eliza asked as she had finally stopped being so shaken.
"He's upgraded the speed and handling on all of them and managed to keep fuel management the same so they're producing more power but using the same or less fuel" Felix replied.
"Well let's get in touch with Jaime and arrange the equipment installation then" Brick suggested.
"Agreed" the rest replied.
Calum had just finished working in a new tracker that would be able to help Thunderbird 5 detect incoming storms and natural disasters sooner and more accurately, but one thing had plagued his mind, he wondered that if the Tracy family weren't running the operation anymore, who recruited the current team? Cause it wouldn't have been the world's governments, so, it had to be someone within the organization, but none of the crafts had been used in 20 years, and there was no sign of recent human life on the island, so what happened?
"Hey Grease Head good news me and Eliza will be taking you to Thunderbird 5 tomorrow to install the new equipment" Felix announced walking over to his work station.
"Oh great I look forward to it" Calum replied not sounds super enthusiastic.
"What's wrong? Usually you'd insult me back or sound ecstatic about this" Felix asked giving him a small punch on the shoulder.
"Well, I had a thought" Calum began.
"Oh, do I need to run and hide?" Felix asked jokingly.
"No, not like "let's put a smoke bomb in the football of the brat that spilt monster on my sketchbook," thought that I had in high school, this is just something that I was wondering," Calum replied putting his tools down.
"Ok, even though the first one does sound funny" Felix responded leaning on the workbench.
"If the Tracy family aren't here who recruited you all? As it wouldn't be the governments of the world as they would take the tech so who?" Calum responded causing Felix to think not something he did often or in great amounts.
"Good question actually as none of is know we all just got letters offering us the job" Felix replied "We'll have a look into that when we're done with this job" he finished.
"Yeah it will be good to have an answer" Calum replied.
"Definitely" Felix replied leaving to go and ask the others
Everyone was equally clueless on the matter, and Eve promised she'd do some research into it. Calum, Felix and Eliza loaded into Thunderbird 3 and took off to go to Thunderbird 5 Jaime was waiting for them and soon enough they were docked onto Thunderbird 5 so Calum could begin installing new equipment and meet Jaime the group sat down while the cargo was being automatically loaded into TB5.
"Yeah, it's been good up here, glad to see you guys again and it's nice to meet you Calum can't wait to see the equipment" Jaime greeted all of them, shaking Calum's hand.
"Nice to meet you too. I'll get to work" Calum said greeting Jaime and getting to work installing new sensors and then going outside in a space suit to install new dishes for the equipment it didn't take him more than an hour while Eliza and Felix chatted with Jaime also the question of who recruited them came up Jaime like the rest was completely clueless to who it could be but after a while they left and returned to Tracy Island.
The whole group was confused about who knew about them and who recruited them for this job. That though was about to become clear.
