ky finished up band practice and stuffed her drumsticks into her backpack.

"Sky, you free on Thursday?" Marie, the guitarist called up.

"Should be, and I've not heard anything about me moving again so, I should be able to come" Sky shrugged.

"Cool, cya then!" Marie called back.

"Latest foster parents ok?" Jack, the lead singer, asked.

"It's not too bad. It's a little strict on timings, but other than that, I can't complain," Sky shrugged.

"My mum is still battling for my adoption papers but I'm sure if she weren't she'd foster you" he smiled.

"Oh, I'm sure she would, your mum is nice too" she laughed.

"Yeah just don't get on her bad side" he laughed back.

"I'm not sure she has a bad side" she smiled.

"Oh she does, trust me, you should see what she's like when my dad brings home a new car" he grinned.

"Fair, speaking of cars, any chance of a lift to the bus station?" she asked.

"I'm sure it's not a problem, I'll call my mum" he smiled at her.

(An hour later)

"Thanks, Mrs M" Sky smiled as she sat in the back of the car.

"Not a problem sweetie, I'll notify social services I want to foster you, save you being shipped off to the other end of the county" Jack's mum, Jenny smiled back.

"Yeah, I've lost track of all the places I've lived and the amount of "parents" I've had" Sky responded.

"Yes, unfortunately, the system is full to the brim, and as soon as a place some up it's gone" Jenny replied.

"At least yours are still alive, my mum was found dead when I was 10 days old and there's no record of who my dad is,  some days I wonder if he's out there, others I couldn't care less" Sky responded honestly.

"Hang on in there, you'll be living with us in no time" Jack smiled.

"Thank you again, for the lift and a bit of hope, I just hope that you guys get to me before someone else." Sky smiled sadly and stepped out of the car.

She waited quietly for her bus and when it arrived she messaged her latest set of parents, telling them she was on the way home via the bus. The last thing she wanted was to be reported missing after she had left for school and band practice, with police all over the place, she'd be moved on again.
