The day Jake leaves: 3 am

"Luke will let us in, so hush. Jake won't be up until 4." Zander said, the group waited outside of the dorm room for him to open up the door.

"Oh hey guys, come in." Luke smiled at them, they all had successfully reached max level and were ready to help him.

"I can't wait to kick ass! We got this! We're going to put that old hog in his place!" Milly squealed in delight. They all talked and hung out in the living room. Soon they heard the bathroom sink run and some other commotion.

"I think he's up, I'll go talk with him. Something is telling me that this needs to be private." Hailey muttered, they all hesitantly nodded watching her walk to his room.

She knocked on the door twice before walking in. "Oh hey Hails, you wishing me luck?" Jake smiled a fake one at her. She beamed at him,

"Well not exactly, Rosy gathered us about three weeks ago and surprise! We're coming with you!"

His face became emotionless, "Hailey, you guys are not-".

"Before you continue, she got all of us to max level so yeah!" She said grabbing both his hands that had dropped the bag he once held.

"Hailey no." He sternly said, she looked at him confused. She thought that maybe he would be happy with this, even if he told her a while ago that he didn't want them coming.

"But-". She began, he cut her off.

"You guys are not coming. I'm not risking it in case I don't succeed."

"Something tells me there's more to it than that. What are you not telling me." Hailey frowned.

"Nothing." He answered pulling his hands away. They went back and fourth until eventually they were yelling,

"Jake what are you hiding!? Can't you be honest with me I'm your bloody best friend!" Hailey screamed, he furrowed his brows.

"I said nothing goddamnit Hailey!"
He turned away but felt her tug his wrist, "Jake! Please!"

"You want to know the truth fine!" He yelled startling her a little, "You know how there's combination spells! Well I have to preform the one that combines them all!" He was now crying.

"Why's that bad?" She asked confused at his tears, Jake shook his head,

"Doing that takes every bit of your energy, I'm more than likely to succeed." His tone softened. She looked at him drying his tears.

"That should be good right?"

"The catch is, I could die doing it." Hailey instantly felt numb, small tears pricked her eyes.

"W-what?" She couldn't believe that her best friend, and the boy she loved could lose his life in this. "No..."

"Hailey, there is little to no chance of me surviving. My death chance is 99%." He turned away leaving the room with the bag. Hailey grabbed his arm begging and trying to pull him back as they walked out to the living room.

"P-please! Jake I can't lose you please! I'm begging you don't do this!" She wept now, the group looked confused and concerned at seeing their faces.

"What's going on?" Zander asked upon seeing his sister cry with Jake's dull face.

"Don't come with me." Jake sternly answered, he didn't have a choice. He didn't want them to lose their life too. He loved them too much.

"What why!?" Milly asked jumping up as Jake tried pushed Hailey off him.
