Scarlett walked through the crowded hallways of Hawkins Middle School, with her "friends", Rachel and Ava close behind her. As the three of them got to Scarlett's locker, having a conversation on which celebrity was hotter. "Who's hotter?! Tom Cruise or Ralph Macchio?!" Ava asked the two girls. "Shit! Umm...I gotta go with Ralph Macchio. He looks so young for 22!!" Scarlett answered as she opened her locker. Will then walked past the 3 girls to get to his locker, which was two lockers away  from Scarlett's. "Hey zombie boy! You gonna eat our brains or something?" Rachel said with a giggle and Scarlett nudges her shoulder and rolls her eyes. "Rachel stop. You're not funny." Scarlett says to her with a glare. Rachel scoffs and rolls her eyes. "Whatever. We'll see you later. Bye scar! Bye zombie boy!" Rachel says as she drags Ava with her as they walk to class. Scarlett rolls her eyes and turns to look at Will. "Sorry about her. She can be a dumbass sometimes. Honestly I think coming back from the dead is so freaking cool.!" Scarlett reassured with a small smile. Will shrugs and looks at the newspaper and shoves it back into his locker. "I-i guess so..." Wills replies with another shrug before he makes his way to class. Scarlett always seemed to have soft spot for Will. They used to be friends until about the 2nd grade, then when Rachel came along and forced Scarlett to never, talk to Will, or his friend group again. She hated them because she thought that nerds just didn't deserve to breathe the same air apparently.

Scarlett made her way to class as well and sat in her usually seat beside Rachel and Ava. "Meet the human brain. I know. I know, it doesn't look like much. A little gross even, right? But consider this." Mr. Clarke starts as he puts a fake human brain on the table. Scarlett looks around the classroom and sees that almost everyone is just as bored as she "was". Scarlett wasn't dumb. But she had to act like it in order to keep up her popularity. All the popular people weren't very smart, and if they were then they were considered "nerdy" and "a try hard". Stupid, right? Classmates were passing notes to each other, others were sleeping, some were chewing gum. The only ones that were actually invested in this were the 4 boys in front as always. "All working as one. No, no, I did not misspeak. I did not stutter. A hundred billion!" Mr. Clarke says but then the door opened. Causing the whole class to stop what they were doing and look towards the door. "Ah, this must be our new student!" Mr. Clarke exclaims. The same girl who Scarlett saw before was now standing in front of the class, just about to walk over to an empty desk. "Indeed it is. All yours." The principal says before walking out. "Alright. Hold up. You don't get away that easy. Come up. Don't be shy." Mr. Clarke says as he stops Max from walking away. "Dustin, drum roll." Mr.Clarke orders and Dustin flips his book over and uses it as a drum. "Class, please welcome, all the way from sunny California, the latest passenger to join us on our curiosity voyage, Maxine!" Mr. Clarke introduces before he is cut off my Max. "It's Max." Max corrects. "Sorry?" Mr. Clarke asks. "Nobody calls me Maxine. It's Max." Max corrects once again. Scarlett overhears Dustin and Lucas whisper "Madmax" to each other and she looks at the pair, confused on what they meant. "Well, all aboard, Max" Mr. Clarke says and Scarlett gives Max a little wave with a smile and Rachel glares at the two. Scarlett watches as Max walks over to the empty desk with a smile that she can't seem to get off of her face. She then notices the 4 boys, intensely staring at Max and watching her every move. Which was kinda creepy. "Oh my god! Scarlett did you see her hair?! Who the hell told her to dye it that colour!?" Rachel whispers to Scarlett and snickers. "How can you be so dumb.? She was probably born with it. And I think it looks nice. Plus, you have the same hair colour too. Yours is just a tiny bit darker." Scarlett states and rolls her eyes, making Rachel scoff and Ava giggle.
