The doctors and interns gathered at the nurse station as Dr. Kirti and Dr. Shubankar began assigning duties for the day. Just then, Dr. Shashank arrived and greeted the medical staff. "Morning, everyone!" he said with a gentle smile, receiving responses in kind from the assembled team.

Dr. Shashank cleared his throat to address the room. "I have an important announcement to make," he began, his voice commanding attention. "We are fortunate to have a distinguished psychiatrist from New York joining our ranks. She is highly respected in her field, and I expect each of you to extend a warm welcome."

A murmur of curiosity spread through the room as the significance of the news sank in. Dr. Shashank then turned his attention to Armaan, his gaze staying on him. "Dr. Armaan, if you could join me in my office for a moment, there's something I'd like to discuss with you," he said, his tone indicating a sense of urgency.

As Dr. Shashank made the request for Armaan to join him in his office, a wave of curiosity swept through the group, evident in the exchanged glances and raised eyebrows of the others. Meanwhile, Riddhima's eyes darted from Armaan to her father, hoping for some clue, but both seemed focused elsewhere, oblivious to her silent inquiry.

Armaan nodded, following Dr. Shashank, leaving Riddhima with a twinge of hurt. Despite her efforts to mask her emotions, the subtle ache lingered within her. Ever since she had asked him to leave her alone, Armaan seemed to be avoiding her, and the sight of him interacting warmly with Sid only added to her distress.

As she watched them leave, Riddhima couldn't shake off the feeling of isolation that had settled over her. She knew she had made the right decision in asking Armaan to give her space, but that didn't make it any easier to bear his indifference.

Trying to push aside her feelings, she turned her attention back to the task at hand, determined to focus on her duties and put aside her personal concerns for the time being.

Sid, observing Riddhima and Armaan's reactions, couldn't shake off the unease creeping over him. He wondered whether their actions were truly justifiable. Despite the relatively short time he had known Armaan, Sid sensed a reserved attitude hiding deeper emotions within him.

It troubled Sid to witness Armaan's cautiousness, especially considering the kindness he extended to everyone else, including Sid himself. This inner conflict left Sid questioning whether he truly deserved such compassion and forgiveness from Armaan.

Moreover, Sid couldn't ignore the obvious indifference Armaan displayed towards Riddhima yet interacted warmly towards him. Their interactions seemed limited to matters concerning patients, which happened rarely.

Yet, Sid hesitated to confront Armaan about this, knowing that Armaan was hurting, particularly since learning about the marriage. He questioned the validity of his own right to intervene in Armaan's personal space, especially given the role he and Riddhima had played in causing Armaan's anguish.

Dr. Shashank and Armaan entered his office, the door closing softly behind them as they took their seats. Dr. Shashank's gaze settled on Armaan, a hint of seriousness in his expression. "There's a case I'd like you to assist me with," he began, his tone measured yet authoritative.

Armaan nodded, attentive to Dr. Shashank's instructions. With a deliberate motion, Dr. Shashank retrieved a patient file from his desk, handing it over to Armaan. As Armaan skimmed through the contents, he discovered the gravity of the situation: the patient was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was scheduled for surgery in a few weeks' time.

As Armaan examined the details of the patient's file, Dr. Shashank couldn't help but notice the subtle yet significant changes in his behavior. While he knew it wasn't the appropriate time to dwell on personal thoughts, Dr. Shashank found himself unable to stop his mind from wandering. Memories rushed back, overshadowing the present moment.

There was a time when Dr. Shashank had held reservations about Armaan's carefree attitude, feeling he wasn't good enough for his daughter. Despite his wife's attempts to reason with him, Dr. Shashank had remained stubborn, unwilling to see beyond his own biases. It had taken time for him to realize the depth of Armaan's love for his daughter.

If only he had summoned the courage to prevent Armaan from leaving. But in his selfishness at the time, Dr. Shashank couldn't bear the thought of his daughter enduring heartache. He understood the depth of her affection for Armaan, and the mere notion of witnessing Armaan's deteriorating mental condition would have shattered her.

Then came the marriage, a decision Dr. Shashank now deeply regretted. He had pressured his daughter into marrying Sid, driven by desperation and a misguided sense of protection. Yet, it was his decision to involve Armaan in resolving Sid and Riddhima's issues that haunted him the most.

It wasn't until he witnessed the significant change in Armaan's behavior that Dr. Shashank realized the extent of his mistake. In his quest to improve his daughter's life, he had unknowingly destroyed Armaan's.

The weight of guilt weighed heavily on Dr. Shashank's conscience, worsened by his confession to Padma, his wife. The burden of responsibility dragged him down, leaving him struggling with regret and self-blame.
