You groan when your alarm on your phone goes off tossing on your side hand swatting at the annoying device turning it off.
"Crap." You throw your hands over your face running them down your sleepy features. Switching to your other side pulling your covers up to cover your exposed front sleeping nude as the summer heat in New York was still lingering into September even with the ac blasting. Your eyes look out the massive window overlooking the city a small smile crosses your face grateful to live in luxury.
With a heavy sigh, you shake off the weight of grief that threatens to engulf you, focusing instead on the present moment. Swinging your legs over the edge of the bed, you slip into a cozy hoodie, the soft fabric providing a sense of comfort as you make your way to the kitchen to brew a cup of tea.
As the fragrant aroma of chamomile fills the air, you pause to contemplate the day ahead, the familiar routine of college classes and gym sessions unfolding before you.
With a sense of purpose, you slip on your sneakers and head out into the bustling streets of New York City. The vibrant energy of the city pulses around you, a constant reminder of the endless possibilities that await amidst the urban sprawl.
As you stroll down the familiar street towards your favorite cafe, the lively notes of your favorite playlist fill your ears, setting the perfect backdrop for your morning routine. Anticipation builds with each step, the promise of a freshly brewed coffee and a warm bagel beckoning you forward.
However, your anticipation is abruptly interrupted by the grating voice of a disruptive customer echoing from inside the cafe. "Eight dollars for a bagel!" he bellows, his tone dripping with entitlement. You can't help but roll your eyes at his audacity, a mixture of irritation and amusement bubbling within you.
As the disruptive customer's tirade continues, you can't help but feel the urge to intervene. "Fucking people..." you mutter under your breath, a mix of frustration and empathy swirling within you. However, before you can gather the courage to step forward, another bystander emerges from the line, diffusing the tension with practiced ease.
Relieved yet still unsettled by the encounter, you take a step back, only to collide with someone behind you. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry," you apologize instinctively, turning to face the unexpected collision.
You're met with a pair of soft green eyes and a charming smile as the stranger steadies you with a gentle touch. "It's okay," she reassures you with a chuckle, her warmth washing over you like a soothing balm. "You didn't hurt me."
Grateful for her understanding, you return her smile, feeling a sense of relief wash over you. "Thank you," you say sincerely, appreciating her kindness in a moment of chaos.
She nods in response, her eyes crinkling with amusement. "No problem at all," she replies, her voice soft and reassuring.
As you stand there, a comfortable silence falls between you, the tension of the earlier confrontation slowly dissipating in the warm embrace of her presence. Despite the cacophony of voices and clattering dishes around you, you find yourself strangely at ease in her company, as if you've stumbled upon a long-lost friend in the midst of chaos.
You steal a glance at the stranger beside you, your eyes tracing the gentle curve of her smile and the warmth in her gaze. There's an undeniable familiarity about her, a sense of connection that transcends the brief encounter you've shared. It's as if she understands you on a level that few others do.
