He walks to us dressed up like an Eskimo. I have to smile.
"Chili? Are you okay?" Alessandro asks him. "Yeah, why?"
"We're not going to Artica."
Everyone laugh.
"Sorry, mate. I am cold. It is freaking minus 20 outhere. And...did you hear? A snow storm is approaching us. I don't know if it is wise to go on that long hike."
"Mate, you're totally like my girlfriend," Ger laughs and offers him a hand.
"I'm Gerard and this is my girlfriend Ava."
"Nice to meet you, Gerard. Ava," he says, looking at me. Gosh that look.
"Ger...me and Carlos know each other," I say. "What do you mean?"
"We met..."
"In the market yesterday," Carlos interrupts me.
"She said she met and old friend..."
"Come on guys. It's getting late. You can chat later," Quinn says.
I step to Ger as we start walking. The nature here is very beautiful. I am walking next to Gerard, trying not to be close to Carlos, who is walking infront of us and chatting with Tom and Alessandro.
I hold Gerard hand and in that moment Carlos looks back to us.
"Ger, I am having the best moments with you. Being in that gorgeous nature it is something I always wish for," I say.
"Babe, every moment we spend together is special," Ger smiles and gives me a quick kiss. When I look back at Carlos, he looks away. We're walking and walking. After an hour of walking my legs starts to hurt. I am not used to walk that much.
"In one kilometre we'll rest in a tavern for a while," Quinn says and looks at me.
I nod and smile. Finally.
"Then we'll return back, right?" I ask.
"No, babe. We're only in a half of a way," Ger says.
"What??? You said we'll return quickly. What about the snow storm?" I panicked. I totally freaked out.
"Why are you so afraid of snow??"
"I am not afraid of snow, Gerard. I am afraid of snowslides and..."
"We can wait in the tavern in the mean time," Carlos says now.
"Yeah, our Carlos isn't a big fan of long hikes and snow, eather," Alessandro laughs.
"I...I'll be fine. I'll go with you guys," I say and walk further. I really don't want to stay alone with him. This wouldn't be a good idea.
"Okay, here we're going to drink some hot coffee, then we continue," Quinn says as we walk inside of the warm and nice tavern. I sit next to Gerard, when Carlos sits opposite me. I don't know where to look. His foot touches me and I flinch. I look up to him as he smiles and takes a sip of coffee.
"The coffee is hot. Be careful not to burn yourself," I say.
"Yeah, something here is very hot, but it's not the coffee," he replies. I can feel the heat all over my body. I am pretty sure I blushed and that I look like a tomato.
"I need to go to the toilet," I say to Ger when he stands up, giving me a space. I almost run to the toilet. I look myself to the mirror, taking a deep breath.
"You are okay, Ava. You are not interested in him. Act like you don't know him, or even better, act like he does not exist," I say to myself. I wash my hands and my face. It is hard to return back to them but I have to. I fix my hair then open the door.
"Oh, god, you scared me!" I shout when I saw Carlos standing by the door.
"Sorry. Are you okay?"
"Yes, everything is perfect."
I want to walk pass him, but he stops me.
"Wait."
"Gerard is waiting on me. We should probably continue with hike."
"Stay here with me. Please. We can talk in the mean time."
"Are you afraid staying here alone?" I laugh.
"No, but you're afraid of snowslides."
I am looking at him.
"Why would us torturing ourselves with something what we don't like? We can stay here in warm, chatting, eating..."
"Can you leave me pass, please?"
He steps back and I walk to the Gerard.
"So, love. Are you ready to continue?" he kisses my forehead.
In that time Carlos walks to us, putting on a bobble hat.
"Hm, actually, Ger...I'd stay here if I can?"
I see how Carlos looks at me, so I smile and continue: "Me and Carlos met at the toilet and he says his back hurts so bad and he'd like to rest a bit. He asks me if I could stay here with him."
Ger looks at Carlos, then at me.
"Yeah, sure. We wont go far, so we're going to return in half an hour, maybe in one hour."
I give Ger a deep kiss for goodbye then they left. Outside is freezing and its getting darker and darker, even it is almost noon.
"So..." Carlos says when I sit next to him.
"So..." I repeat.
"Are you two going to stay here?" an older woman asks us.
"Yeah, our friends went for some more hike, but we decided to wait here," Carlos said.
"Yeah, wise. A big storm is coming to us. You two can stay here in the mean time. Maybe we'll be out of service and some electricity."
I look to Carlos.
"What if we return back to the resort?" I ask. I am really worried now.
"Nah, you better stay here."
Carlos holds my hand: "We're safe here, Ava."
"We are, but...what about Ger and others? They are in danger!" I stand up and wanted to walk outside, but Carlos stops me. "Ava, wait! You can't go outside."
"I have to. We both need to!"
"Lady, please stay here," a woman says again.
"My boyfriend is outside. He needs to return," I got teary eyes. Carlos pulls me in a warm hug. I cry.
I am sitting next to the fireplace now, staring outside the window. The snow storm started. Carlos hands me a cup of a hot tea.
"Here. Mrs. Nilsen offers us a room which is upstairs. You need to rest."
"I don't want to rest. I just want Gerard to come back."
"Ava..."
I stand up and walk to the window.
It is 1.34 pm and it is completely dark outside. It feels like we're in the middle of the night. It is so freaking frightened.
I turn to Carlos, who is sitting now by the fireplace, staring at the flames.
"Hey...I am so sorry."
"It's fine."
"No it's not. I shouldn't act like an idiot. Can you forgive me?"
"Of course I can," he smiles. I missed that smile. My heart pumps again.
I step closer to him, when the electricity is gone. I stumble in the dark and fall on him.
"Oh, here we go again. You just can't stop falling on me," he laughs, holding me harder in his arms.
I can feel his breath on my face. We are so close.
"We're out of the electricity. Here are the candles," Mrs. Nilsen says and glows us.
"Oh, pardon," she says seeing us hugging.
"It's okay. Thank you for the candles," I quickly say and took one candle.
"The room upside is ready if you'd like to take some rest."
I nod.
"Mrs. Nilsen...do you have any informations about our friends?" Carlos asks.
"I am not really sure, but 500 metres away is one more tavern, they are probably there. The signal is gone so we cannot comunicate."
I sigh: "I really hope they are okay."We walk up to the room. I sit on the bed.
"Gosh, my legs are burning," I say as I put down the snow boots. The candle is lightning his face. He is smiling.
"Can I sit next to you?" he asks. I start laughing. Hard, very hard, so I lay down the bed.
"Why are you laughing?" he laughs too.
"I don't know," I admit. I really don't actually. I started to feel so good in his company. My heart is beating faster and I can feel how I blush. Thank God he's not seeing it because of the dark.
"So what are we going to do?" he asks.
