*Kalama*
I wasn’t sure how long Ash kept me back. I had watched until they both had shifted shape. I knew what would happen. I didn’t need the details. Ash soon returned, “Go, but be careful. The fire took a lot out of you. Without me in control, you may not be able to stay awake.” I nodded, taking control. Ash was right, I managed to look into the dark blue eyes of Caspian and then everything went black.
I awoke sometime later. The room was dark, except for the little bit of moonlight creeping in from the windows. Caspian slept next to me, his breathing slow and steady. His arm draped over my hip, sending sparks up to my head and down to my toes. I looked at the clock: 4am. I shifted, rolling over to face my mate, only to realize he was awake. I snuggled closer, inhaling his fresh rainfall sent. His arms tightened around me. “I’m sorry.” I whispered. “I didn’t mean to wake you.” His body shuddered and I suddenly felt the worry and extreme relief. “Caspian? What’s wrong?” He buried his face into my neck, inhaling. I felt him relax and then looked at me. Even in the dark I could see the dark blue color of his eyes. The concern in their depths had my heart racing. I placed my hands on either side of his face. Leaning into my touch,
“I was so worried, and Bay felt like it was his fault.” He kissed my palm. I was missing something. I tried to remember what had happened before the blackness took me, but to no avail.
“What Caspian?”
“You’ve been asleep for two weeks.” Shocked filled me. Two weeks?
“Yes, two weeks. Caspian has spent every day by your side. He refused to allow anyone in the room, expect Dr. Barker, after some…coaxing, from me.” Ash said. I did not like the way she said the word, coaxing and I was sure that it had involved pain. Ash smirked, “What was I supposed to do? Allow him to starve us, while he wasted away in grief? You weren’t dead and I told him as much.” She then went dormant. Then, something finally clicked inside my head. Caspian was my mate, the way a mate was supposed to be. He wasn’t like Evan, would never be like Evan. I truly was safe with him. Perhaps it was time to let Evan go. I heard Ash grumble. I wasn’t entirely sure what she said, but I was sure it had some curse words mixed in. I smiled, pushing away all the hurt Evan had put upon me. It didn’t matter anymore. I felt lighter almost and suddenly very aware of the sparks that creeped up my skin from Caspian’s hand on my back. He needed to know how much I loved him. How much he drove me crazy with just the simplest touch.
My hands still on either side of his face, I kissed him, lightly. Grinning and placing my hands on his already bare chest, I rolled him onto his back, straddling him. Surprise flashed in the depths of his blue eyes, adding to my already wetness. “I’m sorry, Cas. I didn’t mean to worry you.” I said, before kissing him again. I traced his bottom lip with my tongue. He groaned, answering with his own. I tasted and teased his tongue and mouth until we both gasp for air. I kissed his jaw line, down to his neck, stopping at the soft skin between his neck and shoulder. The spot that would hold my mark. I played with the spot, teasing it with my teeth and tongue. He growled, yanking the shirt I wore up and over my head, to touch the bare skin underneath. Sparks ignited and I groaned. Using my tongue, I slowly drifted down his broad chest to his toned abs and pant line, where his hardened length stood, waiting for my attention. He lifted himself off the bed, allowing me to slowly slide his shorts and boxers off. With the tip of my fingers, I lightly stroked the head of his length, before closing my hand around his full grith and lightly squeezing. He groaned again. Before I could take him in my mouth, he sat up, gripping my arms, and pulling me to him.
“Stop, Love. You don’t have to.” His eyes were full of concern. I placed a finger on his lips, hushing him.
“I know. I want to.” I whispered, pushing him back into the bed. I took his length in my hand once more, tracing the head with my tongue, before taking him fully in my mouth. He moaned, tangling his hands in my hair as I sucked and teased. As I sucked, my hands drifted over the rest of him. I felt his muscle contract as his climax drew closer and just before he went over the edge, I stopped, kissing and licking my way back up to his lips. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me flush with his body. Without breaking the kiss, he flipped us, so he was on top.
