Lucy had been beating herself up ever since the scores for the detective exam were sent out. Her and Tim were finally okay for the most part, but today everyone had been acting cold towards her especially Angela and Nyla. She wasn't sure as to why they were acting the way they were, but she was guessing that it because of her score. As if she hadn't already felt like enough of a disappointment no matter how much Tim had her that she could never disappoint him, she still felt like nothing she does is enough anymore. Today she sat at a crime scene babysitting vomit that turned out to be a dog's.

It was still only early afternoon. The bright sun was out. Nyla and Angela were still looking at her with disappointment. Lucy was with Nolan until he and Celina drove off in a hurry. Something about the pentagon killer's wife. Again she was left with the work that they'd have rookie's do. She sighed, but before she knew it, a paramedic was shot in the leg and they were taking fire. The guy that Bailey was rendering aid to before getting sent to the station was shot in the stomach resulting in his death. Lucy jumped behind a car and started to return fire. She went through 3 clips before backup arrived, which just so happened to be the two detectives that she had disappointed enough already. Lucy was running and dodging bullets while the detectives covered fire. She was coming close to making it to cover on the other side, but she was shot. With all the adrenaline she was able to stand up and cut him off without realizing there was blood leaking through her uniform.

Lucy- "Stop what your doing and put you hands up" she yelled at the guy.

He didn't listen and he started to walk toward she while slowly bring his gum up. She shot him in the chest and he fell down. The other cops came running. They got the suspect into an ambulance. Lucy was still pumped with adrenaline and didn't realize how much blood was hidden under her uniform and slowly seeping through.

Angela- "You're bleeding. You need to go to the hospital"

Lucy- "I'm fine"

Nyla- "You are going to the hospital"

Lucy- "I never said I wasn't! I'm fine! I can get there myself!" she said lashing out at them before returning to her shop.

The scene was processed and everyone was at the hospital. Well at least the detectives thought everyone was. Lucy had passed out from the amount of blood loss before she could drive to the hospital.

Grey- "Where's Chen?"

Angela- "She was supposed to be on her way here."

Grey- "Dispatch. I need a location for 7 Adam 19."

Dispatch- "She isn't responding, but it shows her shop is still the same place it has been for the last 2 hours."

Grey- "Harper and Lopez go check on Chen make sure she comes to the hospital."

Nyla- "Yes sir."

When the detectives drive past the front of the shop, they don't see Lucy through the wind shield. They draw their guns and slowly make their way towards the drivers door. They open it, guns raised. There she is. Lucy is lying unconscious slouched over in the seat. They holster their guns and call for an ambulance immediately. The paramedics bring Lucy in.

"Officer Lucy Chen, 29, GSW to the stomach. She lost a lot of blood. She was unconscious when we arrived.

Dr- "Get her up to surgery now!"

Angela- "Serge Lucy had to be rushed into surgery."

Grey- "What happened?"

Nyla- "When we got there she was unconscious. She lost a lot of blood. The adrenaline caused her not to feel the gun shot wound to her stomach."

While Lucy was in surgery Tim arrived and went looking for Lucy as he wasn't aware of her injury.

Tim- "Hey where's Lucy?"

Angela- "I'm sorry Tim. She's in surgery. She was shot."

Tim- "Don't act like you're sorry."

Nyla- "Of course we are. She's our friend."

Tim- "Then why has everybody been acting so cold toward her all day. Angela she already feels like she is a huge disappointment and that nothing she does is right anymore. She came to me today. She didn't want to be at work anymore because she felt like nobody had her back. She felt like everyone at the station hated her."

Angela- "We didn't know"

Tim- "You guys were being rude to her today. This isn't about rank or being a detective or anything. If you are her friends like you say you are then why did she feel the need to drive herself here when she knew she was bleeding. She could've just let you help, but she had already felt like she disappointed you guys enough and now she on an operating table." as he was speaking a doctor came out.

Dr. "Is there a Tim Bradford here?"

Tim- "That's me. Is she okay?"

Dr. "Could we talk somewhere more private?"

Tim shot a glare at the detectives before following the doctor into a private room.

Tim- "Is she okay?"

Dr. "We were able to stop the bleeding and remove the bullet, but we aren't sure how long her heart had stopped before an ambulance got there. We aren't sure when or if she will wake up. I'm sorry."

Tim- "But she could wake up right?"

Dr. "If her heart wasn't stopped for long then yes she could wake up. Would you like to see her?"

Tim- "Yes please"

Tim sat with her for 5 days straight without leaving. She hadn't woken up yet and Tim was losing hope everyday. Tim was blaming everyone else, but especially the detectives. He had talked to Grey, but he ignored everyone else's calls and texts. Tim held Lucy's hand while laying his head down on top of them. Her fingers started to move.

Tim- "Luce?"

Lucy opened her eyes and Tim jumped up to look for a doctor. Lucy was breathing over the vent, so they took it out.

Tim- "I was so worried."

Lucy- "I'm fine babe" she said while rubbing her throat. Her voice was raspy.

Tim- "Would you stop saying that? please. You were shot and you hadn't woken up in 5 days."

Lucy- "I'm sorry for disappointing you again. I should've just let someone take me."

Tim- "Luce you didn't disappoint me. I was just worried."

Before long. The sergeant walked in.

Grey- "How are you feeling"

Lucy- "Fine"

Lucy kept her responses to Grey one worded or she would simply just stare at him.

Grey- "I thought you'd want to know that he made it out of surgery"

Lucy just nodded before turning onto her side. Her back was now facing the door where Sergeant Grey stood. He decided to let her have space. Angela and Nyla also showed up.

Tim- "What do you guys want"

Angela- "We just want to see her"

Lucy- "Can you guys just please go"

Nyla- "We are sorry Lucy"

Lucy- "I said go"

Angela- "Lucy just ple-"

Tim- "You heard her. She said go!"

The detectives left and Lucy ended up making a full recovery. After a few sessions of mandatory department therapy she was able to return to active duty. Things with the detectives and others at the station had started to go back to normal, but Lucy was still confused as to why they could act so cold towards her out of the blue.
