Part 2 - Reminders of the Unknown

"That's definitely not it," Helen points out.

Zolin, currently transformed into a bunny, tucks his face deeper into Faye's arms, trying his best to hide from Queen Helen's patronizing stare.

Faye was holding in her hands Zolin, transformed into a bunny.

"Honey, I know that Zolin already has the bunny charm going." Helen giggles as she moves forward and picks Zolin from Faye's arms.

"And your cuteness is not doing my pregnancy hormones any good," She holds the bunny near her face and presses his nose against hers while making a funny face. "But I'm pretty sure there is more locked in you."

Helen gently places Zolin on the ground.

Zolin transforms back once Helen has given him enough space. He dons a sheepish smile as he scratches the back of his head and steps back to Faye's side.

"Zolin already got this transformation down, but given that you, his soulmate, exist means there is another transformation in him."

"Yes, your majesty," Faye answers.

"My name is Helen. Please, not with the formalities with just us."

"Yes... Helen."

"Good," Helen says turning back to enter the castle, "I will see you both at suppertime."

To sigh dramatically would have been an understatement.

"I'm sorry, Zolin. I wish I was more familiar with all of this."

"No biggie," he answers. "I wouldn't really be familiar with transforming if I didn't live in the castle for most of my life."

"I hope it doesn't take me years to get this down."

"Just believe. We'll get to something." Zolin offers a hopeful smile in her direction.

Faye smiles back. She appreciates his patience and enthusiasm.

"Hey, I've got an idea!" Kieran says appearing from nowhere. Faye jumps in surprise.

"You're scaring my soulmate!" Zolin teases.

"I do no such thing."

"So, what is this great idea?".

"You know most transformations with a soulmate are mounts, right?"

"And?"

Kieran directs his attention to Faye. The grin on his face tells Faye that Kieran knows that the suggestion he is about to make is a lot more entertaining, to him, than useful.

"Maybe if you familiarize yourself with the idea of riding then maybe you both could get Zolin to transform into something other than a bunny!"

"I don't think that's a good idea." is uttered by Faye at the same time Zolin's eyes brighten.

Zolin presents his back to Faye and crouches.

"Hop on!" he says.

"How about 'No'?"

"Just get on," Kieran says as he pushes Faye onto Zolin's back.

Faye hasn't even secured a hold on Zolin when he starts running around the grounds.

Her arms grab onto his shoulders and she finds herself wrapping her legs around his thin waist. Her face buries itself in his shoulder as he picks up speed.

"Am I not heavy?" she screams or asks. She doesn't know.

"Lighter than a feather," Zolin replies.

"Let's see you say that after two laps," Kieran sits back and watches the chaos before him. "If only I could record this scene forever..."

After one lap, Zolin is already panting.

"Okay, try transforming," Kieran shouts from his seated position.

Faye tightens her hold on Zolin's shoulders and presses her head on the middle of his back. She feels Zolin's energy swirling from within him and with a shaky practice she reaches with her own. When they connect, she feels her mind transported to a different place.

There she sees the majestic beast hiding inside of him.

A dragon, if she's ever seen one.

It was black and large, almost the size of Kieran's serpent form if not for the latter's length.
