EmiliaThis night was not supposed to turn out like this.
I should be back at the Airbnb with Elijah and Alena , but here I am: sweaty, exhausted and drunk.
I squirm in my dress, the wet material sticking to my back. My eyes are shut, too tired to open them and see the shining lights. I hear as people fill in the room I'm in and I peak an eye open.
The disco light blares into my right eye and I close it immediately.
"Emilia?" a familiar voice says my name.
"Mhm," I hum. My throat feels dry.
"What are you doing in here?" I hear footsteps coming closer to the sofa I'm laying on.
I don't answer, my eyelids still shut while my chest moves up and down. Someone taps my shoulder and shakes me gently. I squint open my eyes, the light shining into my irises.
"Here, drink this." She sits me up by grabbing my forearm and pulling my back towards the back of the sofa. Once I'm sitting, she brings the glass towards my lips.
I grab the glass once I realize it's water and chug down the whole glass. "Thank you," I say to her.
Laura smiles, and puts the empty glass on the round table in front of us.
"It's been a while since I last saw you," she looks at me while I push back my sweaty hair. "Where did you go?"
I met Laura tonight at this club, and we danced and drank together but got separated. How? No clue.
My head still feels pretty dizzy and light, but it's better than what I felt yesterday. Two days ago my best friends and I landed in Italy for the summer. I'm glad to say that's it coming to a great start.
I'm far from home and it's all could ask for. I need these months to forgive and forget. Mostly forget.
"I'm not sure." I smile sheepishly.
I can tell she's serious. I ignore it and try to stand up. My feet ache as soon as I put weight on them and I grab the nearest wall to balance my self.
My vision spins, and I have to swallow back the food that wants to come back.
Jesus. How much did I drink?
"Where's your purse?" Laura asks behind me.
I shrug, focusing on inhaling and exhaling. I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinking. Sure, I've drank at few parties back home, but never like this.
"Come on." Laura senses my ill presence and puts my arm around her neck and her arm around my waist.
The club is still filled with people, the music blaring that I can feel my heartbeat bounce with every step I take. Laura takes me through the crowd of dancing people, the warm atmosphere making my skin feel wet.
I'm so out of it that I don't even realize when a random guy comes up, grabs my jaw and kisses me. I kiss him back, because what the hell?
