Emilia

The weather has finally reached where it's warm but there's a cooling and refreshing breeze. Walking in my jeans and loose long sleeve, the sun feels nice against my skin.

My hair is in a french braid, so when the soft wind hits me, my hair doesn't go all crazy. Mrs. Anderson is walking close behind me, saying something to me.

She really was serious about walking me to the library. All I believed was that I'd see her in the library but she showed up at the end of my third period, waiting for me outside.

So here we are, both turning and heading towards the library's doors.

"Do you understand?" She looks at me.

"Yup." I answer after a second. I didn't listen to what she was saying but I have a feeling it was about not wasting Levi's time or me actually doing my work.

Something along those lines.

We head inside the building, silence filling my ears. The library is pretty much empty except for the librarian and a student sitting on one the circular tables.

I let my counselor lead me to the student sitting near the table. I soon realize that the student was actually Levi. He was sat down, slumping on top of the table and holding his phone out against his backpack while he watched something.

"Levi." Mrs. Anderson calls out his name. His head turns to face us, his eyes widening. He sits up quickly, his phone dropping forward on the table.

"Mrs. Anderson," He rushes out, a hint of surprise in his voice. "What are you doing here?"

I don't think he sees me yet, given I am standing behind Mrs. Anderson. She moves from in front of me, letting Levi see me. His eyes find mine, widening again while he brings a hand to rub the back of his neck.

"Emilia." He inhales a breath.

"Hello," I wave, looking away from his gaze.

"Well, I haven't informed you Levi, but I will be here from now on, supervising your studying sessions." She explains.

"Oh, okay." He says, sounding confused. "But why?"

I watch Mrs. Anderson as she glances my way. "Since Emilia has missed two days already."

I glance toward Levi while he nods. "Right."

I narrow my eyes at him. I still couldn't believe he told on me. What grade are we in? Fourth?

When Levi looks back at me, he furrows his brows , noticing my narrowed eyes. He moves his gaze away from mine. I step towards the table, pulling out the chair across him and sitting down. I put my backpack down, slumping back in my seat.

"I'll be over there," Mrs. Anderson points to another table, only that one is taller and against the wall. "Finishing up some emails. If you need help, go on and ask me." Her eyes find mine once again, nodding at me. "Emilia, do your best."

She walks away, leaving an awkward silence between Levi and I. He busied himself by taking out some notebooks and folders from his backpack. I stare at him, staying still while he continues to shift his belongings around.
