The crowd slowly trickled into the venue, it was a deep valley with huge pine trees on both sides. The center of the valley was flat except for the occasional tree or big boulder. There were food trucks and vendors selling band merchandise. The stage was fairly big for a one-time outdoor gig. The sun had already set and it was dark out. There were flood lights attached to key areas among the trees. Morgan looked out onto the valley and was proud of her work.
The first band played cover songs to about a hundred people. The crowd was steadily growing by the time the second band started to perform. Morgan paced back and forth anxiously checking in with the security and making sure the vendors were happy. She would walk into the crowd of about a thousand people every so often to try to live in the moment but she was agitated. She couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of The Key Jangler killing her little sister.
After the third band packed up their gear and left the stage, Morgan and her band went to set up their gear on stage. Soon the intro to the whole set was being played over the loudspeakers, getting the crowd in an uproar. Morgan glanced up at the curtains in front of her and then back at her bandmates and put her earpieces in, drowning out the crowd chanting "Crystal Shit! Crystal Shit! Crystal Shit!"
The curtains dropped and the stage was immaculately bathed in pink light. The crowd let out a huge roar. "We are Crystal Shit, your local college witches. Give me your hand and I'll read your carrot cards!" The drummer smacked her sticks together thrice and the band played their first big hit that made them popular on TikTok.
As the band got ready to play their next song, Morgan felt her sister hug her from behind. "C'mere you big cunt!" A wave of relaxation fell upon Morgan. She hugged her sister harder than ever before. "I love you so much!" she said to her. She turned to the crowd and they were already cheering. Morgan spoke into the mic and said "This is my sister, Peyton, she helped catch The Key Jangler! I'm so fucking proud of her! Everyone give it up for Peyton!" The crowd cheered louder. Morgan looked over to the side of the stage and saw Detective James nodding and holding his thumbs up. "Also, let's give it up for the security here from our local police department!" The crowd cheered. "Alright this next song is called, Your Mom Dot Com. Let's go!" The crowd erupted into a frenzy of moshpits and headbanging, the sounds of death metal filling the air.
