"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."

"Case must be local." Spencer said as they stepped off of the elevator "JJ said not to bring a go bag."
Soren tilted his head as he was greeted by the sight of the familiar camouflage uniform of the army.
"What's the army doing here?" Derek questioned.
"What the hell is going on?" Emily asked.
As they entered the round table room they noticed an unfamiliar woman with JJ.
"Guys, this is Dr. Linda Kimura, Chief of Special Pathogens with the CDC." JJ introduced her.
"Hello." Emily greeted the woman.
"Hello." Linda returned "I'm sorry to meet under these circumstances." She said
"What circumstances?" Spencer asked her.
"We need to get started," Hotch stated.
"Last night, 25 people checked into emergency rooms in and around Annapolis. They were all at the same park after 2 p.m. yesterday." JJ spoke showing the pictures of the people affected "Within 10 hours, the first victim d*ed. It's now just past 7 a.m. the next day, we have 12 dead."
"Lung failure and black lesions." Derek repeated "Anthrax?" he suggested.
"Anthrax?" Soren repeated, "Anthrax would kill people this fast." He said.
"This strain does," Linda told them.
"What are we doing about potential mass targets-- airports, malls, trains?" Emily questioned.
"There's a media blackout," Hotch told them.
"We're not telling the public?" Emily said.
"We'd have a mass exodus," Derek remarked.
"The psychology of group panic would cause more deaths than this last attack," Rossi commented.
"Yeah, and if it does get out, whoever did this might go underground or destroy their samples." Spencer added.
"Or if they wanted attention and didn't get it, they might attack again." Emily spoke "Doesn't the public have the right to know that?"
"If there is another attack, there's no way we'll be able to keep it quiet." Hotch stated "Our best chance of protecting the public is by building a profile as quickly as we can." He said.
"What do we know about this strain?" Spencer asked looking to Linda.
"The spores are weaponized, reduced to a respiral ideal that attacks deep in the lungs. Odorless and invisible." She explained
"A sophisticated strain." Rossi commented "Only a scientist would know how to do that." He remarked.
Derek flipped through the photos "These lesions are doubling in size in a matter of hours."
"It's not the lesions I'm worried about." Linda spoke "It's the lungs. We don't know how to combat the toxins once they're inside. And the reality is, we may lose them all." she informed the team.
