Chapter 1: A Rotten Reciprocity

(Background: Roxi is the Deity in this story. Entropy is just another Lurker that's been imprisoned somewhere, the void or elsewhere. There are three kingdoms. Fallshire, Rysara, and Vulkrat. Two kingdoms are fighting for ultimate power, this threatens the whole world. Supernatural creatures exist, but are looked down upon. Some societies do support them though. The hierarchy of this whole world is Deity, Royal, Noble, Common folk, Soldiers, Peasants, and the lowest class includes: Assassins, murderers, mercenaries, wanted people, criminals, and slaves/servants. No, it's not racist or anything, it's like war prisoners and sometimes fae.)

(Third person/Branzy's POV)

Branzy wakes up to a searing pain in his eyes. The sunlight had filtered through his curtains and directly into his face. He lazily places his hands over his eyes. Not wanting to get up just yet, he settles for just lying down. Suddenly, a horned creature bursts into his room. The beast jumps up onto his bed and lands on top of 'the no, no, square.' Branzy lets out a small sound of pain and folds himself up.

"No, Rose, please, it's still early in the morning. Get off of me." Branzy scolds the pet. Rose responds with a small nip on the leg. Branzy jerks his limb back and rolls over. "Go awaaaaaayyy..." He mumbles sleepily.

The muuk (Muuk is the nickname for my menace of a dog. I incorporated them into my story lol.) immediately stops being friendly and begins jumping up and down. In a final attempt to wake the sleeping man, they ram their twisted horns into his back.

"OWWW! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!" Branzy jolts up and grabs the animal's two horns. Lifting up Rose, he stares into their eyes. Branzy lets out a long tired sigh. "You're the worst pet I could ask for, y'know that?"

The creature tilts its head to the side as best as it can. Its large beady eyes make it seem so innocent. Branzy groans in annoyance. "I suppose I shouldn't been sleeping in this late..." He grumbles. Then he looks over at his beside table. A clock and a lamp reside there. Spotting the two hands on the clock, he reads aloud. "7:30am... 7:30AM?! I'm gonna be late for that meeting!"

Branzy quickly sets down Rose and springs out of bed. Snatching up a purple overcoat, a small purse, and an empty backpack, he's ready to go. He runs to the kitchen and snatches up an apple and a bread loaf. Munching on the whole wheat loaf, he quickly shoves the front door open while shuffling on his jacket.

Looking back into the house he shouts, "Rose, watch the house for me while I'm gone!" And with that he slams the door shut. Turning to face the outdoors he inhales the cool autumn air. People bustle down the street carrying shopping baskets, rolling baby carriages, and riding horses. Everyone here in the central kingdom wears fine clothing. Most of the city's population are nobles and rich common folk.

(First person POV now)

Personally, I'm not an average person, but my noble family isn't really an existing household anymore. Their nobility "expired" hundreds of years ago. Roughly the time when fae no longer lived among humans. Many changes were made that year. It still allows me to live here, a small benefit of my lineage. I reach into my front coat pocket and lift out the envelope. A bright red wax stamp seals the paper.

I received a summon from the Lady of this section. The whole inner walls of the kingdom are split into different parts, each run by a high noble. Lady Grace wants to talk to me, the reason unknown. I mustn't keep her waiting... Fortunately I live close to the stables. I begin my walk down the street. Hands in my pockets, as the wind blows colder. Winter lilies bend in the breeze, nature's wave of hello. Street lamps inhabit every block.

A bell rings behind me. I turn around and spot Rekrap. "Hey Branzy! The bakery's open if you wanna come on in!"

I smile and wave. "Sorry Rek! I'm running a bit late. I'll catch up with you later!"
