116 years after conquest , dragon lakeshore ,
DAYSAFTER THE BIRTH of their infant daughters , the princesses rhaesa and maera of house toruk , the monarchs of the land held a special celebration feast in the town hall . they invited many honourable lords and ladies from across the realm , aswell as many other small folk . everyone danced , sang , and drank to the little girl's health as the septa's prayed for the youth in the corner . sat at a table far away from everyone else were the mighty rulers of dragon lakeshore , queen alaessa and king aegar .
they watched in delight and clapped along to the beat of the music played by the orchestra in front of them , smiling and laughing . a man approached their table , "ser elric." aegar spoke , lowering his head in a form of greeting . the man returned this action and begun , "your graces, such a pleasure to see the two of you." he smiled at the couple before continuing, "i praised the day when i found out the queen was with child, and i can't express my joy enough now that the princesses have been greeted by the sore sights of the world." ser elric flushed at the small coo's of maera before setting down a basket on the table . alaessa peaked over the pig's leg , which was blocking her view of the present , and saw freshly sewn baby blankets and dresses for her little girls .
"a gift from my wife and her handmaidens," he continued flashing a cheeky grin . aegar had a good look through the pile before nodding his head in approval , "the queen and i appreciate your thoughts and kindness, we shall take this gift into great consideration, my lord." he said . "of course, my king." ser elric spoke, saying his goodbyes before returning to his family's table . aegar lifted the basket up , sitting it next to some similar gifts presented by other people .
he let out a huff and a yawn as he sat down again . he noticed alaessa staring at him , flashing her a smile as she returned a softer and more gentle one . the slight cries of rhaesa alerted alaessa as she looked over her shoulder . the spring queen got up from the table and scooped the princess in her arms, taking her to their bed chambers .
