"Mom," Michael started, taking a seat on the couch with Violet, "This is Violet. Violet this is my Mother."
"It's nice to meet you Violet." She smiled, shaking her hand.
"You too." She smiled an uneasy smile.
"How old are you, Dear?" She asked, smiling.
"I'm um... I'm 18."
"You're lovely, "she smiled, " And how did you two meet?" She asked.
"She was-" Michael started.
"I want to hear it from her sweetheart." She smiled.
"Oh...well i...we met in LA. I was...I'm a fan of the band you see." She smiled.
"A huge fan." He laughed.
"How long have you been together?" She asked politely.
"We've been... together for a while. And we need to talk to you about something...important." Michael said.
"Is something wrong son?" She asked, taking his hand, clearly frightened.
"No mom...well yes and no. It isn't wrong it's just something...different...important?" He sounded uncertain.
"What is it sweetheart?"
"Violet is...um," he rubbed the back of his neck," We're having a baby, mum." He finally said
"A b- a baby?" She asked, confused.
"Yes mum. A baby."
"You mean she's...she's pregnant?" She asked, letting go of his hand.
"Yes ma'am. I am." Violet attempted to hide her fear of what might happen next.
"The thing is, Mum. I know this is a big step. And I know that it's a huge responsibility. But I love her. With all of my heart. And I know we can make this work." He said taking Violets hand.
"You're going to keep the baby then?" She asked.
"Yes ma'am of course." Violet said, sending a wave of relief over is mother.
"Oh thank God. I'm so happy for you. But...but are you sure you're ready? How are you going to live? Where?" She asked, holding both Michael and Violets hand.
"Mum I'm going to take care of everything. I promise you, we'll be fine." She said smiling.
"How far along are you, Dear?"
"21 weeks"
"Five months." She said, a shocked look taking over her face.
"Yes ma'am."
"Please Call me Karen. You can't possibly be 5 months. You're so tiny."
"I told you you're tiny!" Michael teased.
"When is the baby due?" She asked.
"January 21st." She smiled.
"Do you know the gender yet?"
"Yes," she said standing and getting close to her ear, "it's a girl." She whispered.
"Aw come on! Everyone but me knows!" Michael whined.
"Luke and Calum do not know!" She whined back.
"Only because they want it to be a surprise! "
"Which is exactly why I won't tell you!" She laughed.
"You two already argue like a married couple." Karen laughed, making Violet blush. They visited with his mother for about an hour longer and then had to leave.
"It was so nice meeting you, Violet." She said, hugging her.
"It was nice meeting you too, Karen."
"We'll get together soon, Dear. "She smiled. They said goodbye and headed back to Ashton's house.
"You do know you have an appointment with Barbara right?" Lauren asked as soon as they walked in the door.
"Yes we know." Michael smiled.
"Are you hungry?" Ashton asked, walking down the stairs
"Nope." She said, walking to the couch and taking a seat.
"The appointment isn't until 3 it's only 11. Are you sure you aren't hungry?" Michael asked.
"Yeah I'm sure." She smiled. Michael sat next to her and Luke was on her other side.
"How did it go Mate?" Calum asked.
"With my Mum? It went great."
"Really? That's great."Luke said.
"Violet told her what the baby was. And still won't tell me." He said, crossing his arms.
"Poor baby." She joked.
"I want to know, Violet. Please." He begged.
"You'll find out." She said.
"When?" He pouted.
"When I have it." She laughed.
"You make me angry, Violet." He said, still pouting.
"Aww I'm sorr-," she started, "oh. Oooh my gosh!" She grabbed Michaels hand and put it to her belly
"What the hell. What is it!" He panicked.
"They baby is kicking you jackass!" She shouted.
"Can I feel!" Luke asked.
"Me too!" Calum said.
"Omg I wanna feel it Violet!" Lauren squeeled. They all put their hands to her stomach and felt the baby girl kick.
"Can I feel?" Ashton asked.
"Mmhm." She took his hand and put it to her stomach.
"Oh my gosh. That's incredible." He smiled.
"It is." She smiled back. She layer on the couch feeling her unborn daughter kick until finally, it was time to leave. On the drive there, it was silent. Michael didn't say a word.
"Hello Violet! How are we today?" Barbara asked as Violet climbed onto the exam bed.
"I'm fine." She smiled.
"This must be the father?" She asked.
"Oh yes. This is Michael. Michael this is Barbara."
"Hi." He smiled, shaking her hand.
"Ready for your ultrasound? "She asked. Violet nodded. She pulled out the gel and put it on her stomach. Then, pulled out the small machine.
"What is that? Will that hurt her?" He asked, squeezing her hand.
"No. It tickles." Violet giggled.
"Everything looks great. I know you didn't want daddy knowing the sex of the baby so I won't do a 3D photo just yet. But everything looks wonderful. Have you felt any movement?" She asked, pulling off her gloves.
"We felt kicks this morning." Violet answered excitedly.
"That's good news. That's means the baby is growing properly. Keep doing what you're doing and everything will be fine. Any questions?" She asked.
"Yeah actually. Why don't I have cravings? I hardly ever want to eat. And I've hardly gained anything at all. It's hard to believe I'm pregnant at all." Violet explained.
"Well, it's perfectly normal that you aren't having cravings. Some women just don't experience that. The reason you arent gaining much weight is because your baby is exceptionally small. Now dad?", she looked at Michael, "I want you to make sure that Violet eats plenty and gets lots of rest." She smiled. He nodded.
"Let me get your photos and you should be good to go." She smiled.
"Michael what's wrong?" She asked.
"Huh?"
"You're acting strange. Ever since the kicking this morning you've been...quiet."
"I just... im...you, you have a person inside of you. Like-Like a living thing. And I put it there." He said, his eyes wide.
"Hey. You're freaking out on me. You can't freak out on me right now okay? I need you." She kissed him. They got their pictures and left. When they got home, they showed the pictures and ate. Then went to bed. The rest if that week went the same. Eating, arguing, and rest. The baby kicked more frequently. They
