Alpha Trion and his bodyguard, who is his closest friend, were walking through a tomb they discovered through ancient records. Coming to a door, they quickly studied the ruins and opened the door. But out of the blue, seven cybertronians attacked without warning. They hardly had time to react, let alone see what they were facing. "Arrow Strike!" Alpha Trion called out. "They must be the guardians!"
"Yeah, but what are they protecting?!" Arrow Strike shouted back. He shot his arrows that surprisingly did nothing to the protectors. "What are we supposed to do when our weapons do nothing to them?!"
"The key!" Alpha Trion quickly pulled the giant metal key out from behind him while dodging the blows from the powerful beings. Showing the item to their opponents, the protectors immediately froze and then lowered their arms.
"Are we good?" Arrow Strike asked.
"Follow," the only female told them. Alpha Trion and Arrow Strike knew that was more of an order. Besides ... they wanted to know what was being guarded. Walking through halls of history, the two Autobots gazed upon it with astonishment. They stopped at a vault door. "He's one of the last ones who's alive."
Alpha Trion and Arrow Stike glanced at each other in confusion. The vault opened to a single pod centered in the middle of the chamber. They could see through the glass. A sparkling was in the pod! Arrow Strike bolted to it and pressed his hand against the glass, his eyes fixed on the youngling. He seemed to be about eleven years old. Alpha Trion joined Arrow Strike with the same expression. He turned to the Guardians and asked, "Who else is out there?"
"We do not know the location of the others. But they, too, are sparklings," the female guardian told them. "There is another one who has been found."
"Do you know who?" Arrow Strike asked.
"No. To protect the others, we do not know their location, or name, we only know when a Sparkling has been found."
Alpha Trion knew that their escorts may disappear at any second now, and he had to ask a burning question before they vanished. "What magic does he have? And how are we supposed to help him learn how to control it?" he paused. "We aren't Mysticbots!"
"We have some items that can help you," the female guardian told him, "but they will only appear once we join the Allspark."
"Is there anything we should absolutely know?" Arrow Strike asked before he glanced at the sleeping sparkling.
"There is one thing," the female guardian paused, as if she was giving them a chance to prepare themselves for what they were about to hear. "His magic ... is the Omega Lock. But he has some training with it already." The two Autobots' faces were filled with shock and astonishment.
"How?" Alpha Trion spoke without realizing it.
"He was forged with it."
Alpha Trion turned to the sparkling. "How can this even be?" he queried, hardly above a whisper. "I've known Mysticbots could be powerful, but this... this is beyond what I thought they could do."
"We know it's a lot to take in but know this." The two Autobots turned to face them. "That key you had only showed up to you because it knew you two would take care of him and teach him what he needs to know."
Alpha Trion and Arrow Strike glanced at one another. "Let's do it," Arrow Strike told his friend. When they turned back to the protectors, they discovered they had vanished into thin air. "Well ... that just ... happened."
A hissing sound from the pod opening made them whirl around. The sleepy one inside was not prepared for the weight of his unfrozen body and began to pitch forward. The two reacted quickly the sparkling falling and caught him before he hit the floor. His azure eyes opened slowly, and his white armor with red and blue marking shined with wet goo coating it. Must be from being in the pod for so long, the two Autobots thought in unison.
"Who ... who are you two?"
"I am Alpha Trion," he introduced himself. "This is Arrow Strike." He gestured his hand to his friend.
"I'm ... Smokescreen," the sparkling told them. "And I'm so ... tired." At that, the sparkling fell asleep in their arms.
"We should get him to the medics to check him out," Arrow Strike commented. As he glanced back, he saw some items laying on the floor. "I think those are the things that the guardians told us would help take care of Smokescreen."
Alpha Trion gently picked their new charge up. "We will have to come up with an explanation without telling them the truth," he remarked. "If the Decepticons knew about him, let alone KNOW he's a mysticbot..." He did not finish, for the thought of it made him cringe. He sighed. "Let us head back." Alpha Trion turned and walked towards the door.
"Hey ..." Arrow Strike called out. Alpha Trion back turned to his friend. "Should we tell your former apprentice?"
"No." Alpha Trion turned to face Arrow Strike sideways. "Even though he has the right to know, it is best that no one else but us knows of Smokescreen's true identity."
"Fair enough." Arrow Strike stooped to gather up the items so Alpha Trion could carry Smokescreen. When he picked up two feather-like crystals ... they floated out of his hand and started to write in ancient mysticbot cybertronian. Next thing they knew, the words started going into their eyes and they felt a massive power surge sweeping into their heads. An enormous amount of priceless information had just entered into their minds!
They headed back to their base, working on a cover-up story for Smokescreen en route. The young child awakened a third of the way to their destination. They quickly explained that it wouldn't be safe if he used his powers in front of the others. Smokescreen understood them and knew that he could trust them. But right now, he was too tired to tell his tale.
