Little Bird ( Rewrite )

the first cut

It's all about lines. The finish line at the end of residency, waiting in line for a chance at the operating table, and then, there's the most important line. The line separating you from the people you work with. It doesn't help to get too familiar. To make friends. You need boundaries between you and the rest of the world. Other people are far too messy. It's all about lines. Drawing lines in the sand, and praying like hell no one crosses them.

The interns are getting their scrubs on. Meredith puts her shoes, which are leopard print, in her locker. Delilah was already dressed in her scrubs, she ate an energy bar, while she waited for the interns.
Meredith talks to an intern who wants to become her roommate, but Meredith doesn't think the intern is the right fit and says no.
Izzie asks Meredith," Why did you put up posters for roommates,but you don't want them."  Meredith then replied,"I do want roommates, we're together a hundred hours a week, you want to live together too?"

Cristina saw the coffee in her hand and scoffed,"Ooh, you're bringing bribes now?"

"I need a place to live. My mom irons my scrubs. I have to get out of there." Delilah gave a small giggle at George's words.Meredith stated, "It's not a bribe. I don't think it's a good idea."

George quickly added," But I can put down last, first and deposit."

Izzie added annoyed that Meredith hasn't said yes yet,"I can cook. And I'm an obsessive cleaner."

Meredith remarked," No. I just want two total strangers who I don't have to talk to, or be nice to, and it's not a bribe, it's a mocha latte."

Bailey saw her interns walking to her and ordered them,"George, you're running the code team, Meredith and Delilah, take the trauma patients, Cristina, deliver the weekend labs to the patients, Izzie, you're on sutures." Delilah quickly walks to the pit and wait for the incoming trauma

As Bailey goes up the stairs, Meredith asks if she could assist her in the OR and offers her a mocha latte. The interns immediately crowd Bailey, saying if Meredith gets to cut they all should. Bailey says," Stop talking. Every intern wants to perform their first surgery, that's not your job. Do you know what your job is? To make your resident happy. Do I look happy? No. Why? Because my interns are whining. You know what will make me look happy? Having the code team staffed, having the trauma patients answered, having the weekend labs delivered, and having someone down in the Pit, doing the sutures. No one holds a scalpel until I'm so happy I'm Mary freakin' Poppins."She takes the mocha latte out of Meredith's hand and leaves.

Meredith arrives at a trauma room where the nurse says that they have a rape victim who was found down at the park and has major injuries. Meredith starts to zone out when she sees that the victim's shoes are the same as hers, but when Delilah starts giving orders,"Yeah. Call it in to clear CT, let them know I'm coming, load up the portable monitor, call respiratory for a ventilator, I'll get x-rays while I'm down there." She snaps out of her daze.

The rape victim is in surgery. Derek spoke while performing surgery,"She's going to spend a hell of a long time in recovery and rehab."

Burke then retorted,"If she survives."

"What is she, like, 5'2", a hundred pounds, she's still breathing after what this guy did to her? If they catch the guy, they should castrate him."

Burke then said to Derek," See how shredded her hands are? She tried to fight back."

Delilah smirked,"Tried to? Rape kit came back negative. She kicked his ass."Burke intrigued by the intern's words,"So, we have a warrior among us, huh?"

Meredith commented, wanting the patient's name to be known," Alison. Her - her name is Alison."Burke pulled out a piece of flesh out of the cavity, unsure what it is and said,"I think I may have found the cause of our rupture.What is this? Does anyone know what this is?"
